Prescribing & Dispensing Policy

Prescribing & Dispensing Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This policy explains how prescribing and dispensing work at nume: who makes clinical decisions, how those decisions are made, and the safeguards we apply at every step. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

1. Who we are

nume is a trading name of OVIO LTD (Company No. 16090993). Our pharmacy operates from 54 Thurcaston Road, Leicester, LE4 5PF and is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a distance selling pharmacy, premises number 9012878. Our Superintendent Pharmacist, Mahommed Zunaid Ayub Patel (GPhC No. 2217101), is accountable for the safe and effective running of the pharmacy.

Prescribing is carried out by GPhC-registered Independent Prescribers. You can verify our pharmacy and every member of our clinical team on the GPhC public register at www.pharmacyregulation.org.

2. Our prescribing principles

  • Every consultation is reviewed by a person. A GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber personally reviews your health, history and goals before any prescribing decision is made.
  • Treatment only where clinically appropriate. A completed consultation or payment does not guarantee a prescription. Our prescribers may decline to prescribe, prescribe a different medicine, dose or quantity than requested, or recommend you see your GP. If treatment is not appropriate, your order is cancelled and refunded in full.
  • Evidence-based decisions. Prescribing decisions follow the medicine's licensed indications and Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC), applicable NICE guidance, GPhC standards, and our internal clinical governance policies.
  • Honest information. Prescribing is only as safe as the information it is based on. You must provide complete, accurate and truthful information in your consultation and keep us informed of any changes to your health or medication. Providing false or misleading information may result in refusal of treatment, cancellation of orders, and being blocked from future use of our service.

3. Eligibility and verification

Treatment is available only to adults aged 18 or over, resident in the United Kingdom, who meet the clinical eligibility criteria applied by our prescribers, including BMI thresholds in line with the medicine's licence and applicable guidance.

As required of a GPhC-registered distance selling pharmacy supplying higher-risk medicines, we verify every patient before supply:

  • Identity verification through our identity verification partner, including a liveness and face-match check against government-issued photo ID.
  • BMI verification through a live video of you on your scales, checked for authenticity. Edited, re-used or generated media is rejected.
  • Transferring patients must also provide their previous prescription or proof of supply from their previous provider, so that dosing can continue safely.

Where verification is incomplete or unsuccessful, medicine will not be supplied and your order will be cancelled and refunded, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.

4. GP notification

In line with guidance on the safe supply of medicines at a distance, we notify your registered GP when we prescribe and supply a weight loss medicine to you, and at clinically appropriate points during treatment. If you object, our prescriber will assess whether it remains safe to treat you without GP notification; if it is not, treatment will be declined. Full details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

5. How dispensing works

  • Once a prescription is issued, it is dispensed by our own GPhC-registered pharmacy. Nothing is outsourced.
  • Every order goes through clinical and accuracy checks by our pharmacy team before it leaves the premises.
  • All medicines are sourced exclusively through the licensed UK supply chain from MHRA-authorised wholesalers, and are stored and handled in line with the manufacturer's requirements.
  • Temperature-sensitive medicines, such as GLP-1 injectable pens, are stored refrigerated in the pharmacy and dispatched in appropriate packaging for transit, with delivery by tracked courier. You must refrigerate your medicine promptly on receipt, in line with the instructions provided.
  • Every order is delivered in plain, unbranded packaging.

6. Quantity and frequency limits

Professional standards, clinical guidance and medicines law limit the quantity and frequency of supply. Our prescribers and pharmacists apply these limits to every order, and their decisions are final. We monitor for duplicate orders, early reordering and attempts to obtain supply through multiple identities, and we decline supply where we identify them.

7. Ongoing care, dose changes and reviews

Weight loss medicines are started at a low dose and increased gradually in line with the licensed dosing schedule. Dose changes are always led by your prescriber; you must never increase your dose ahead of schedule.

Continued and repeat supply is conditional on completing clinical reviews when requested, which may include updated weight and BMI verification. If a review is not completed, supply is paused. Our prescribers may adjust, pause or stop treatment at any time for clinical reasons, and will explain their reasoning and signpost further support where appropriate.

8. Side effects and safety reporting

All medicines can cause side effects. Every order includes the manufacturer's patient information leaflet, and our clinical team is available 7 days a week if you have concerns. If you experience serious or persistent symptoms, stop taking the medicine and seek medical advice immediately; in an emergency, call 999, or 111 for urgent advice.

Suspected side effects can be reported to the MHRA through the Yellow Card scheme at yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk. We also record and act on all safety reports made to us, in line with our clinical governance procedures.

9. What we will not do

  • We never prescribe or supply prescription medicine without an individual clinical assessment by an Independent Prescriber.
  • We never supply medicines to anyone under 18.
  • We never supply quantities beyond what has been clinically approved, and we do not supply for resale or onward distribution.
  • We never substitute or change your treatment without your agreement.

10. Questions and concerns

If you have questions about this policy or a concern about any aspect of our prescribing or dispensing, contact us at hello@joinnume.co.uk. Our Complaints Procedure explains how we handle concerns, and you may also contact the General Pharmaceutical Council, the regulator for pharmacies in Great Britain, at www.pharmacyregulation.org.
