Wegovy is a once-weekly self-injection using a pre-filled pen, taken on the same day each week. It comes with clear instructions, and we include 4 needles and 4 alcohol swabs with your pen. Our team is available 7 days a week if you're unsure about anything, from your first injection onwards.
Everyone starts on 0.25mg once weekly. This is the standard starting dose that lets your body adjust. Your prescriber then reviews how you're getting on and leads any dose increases step by step, typically every four weeks. You never decide dose changes alone.
The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. They're usually mild and settle as your body adjusts, which is why dose increases are gradual. Your prescriber will talk through what to expect, and the full list is in the patient information leaflet included with your pen. If anything concerns you, our clinical team is a message away, 7 days a week.
