SURMOUNT-1, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, is the landmark phase 3 trial for tirzepatide in adults with obesity. At 15mg over 72 weeks, participants achieved an average body-weight reduction of around 20–21%. Some analyses put it slightly higher (around 22.5%) among those who completed the full course. These are averages across thousands of adults; individual results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed.

What SURMOUNT-1 also showed is that the gap between 10mg and 15mg is real but not dramatic. The step from 10mg to 15mg added meaningful average weight loss in the trial data, but it came with a slightly higher rate of gastrointestinal side effects.
