Start journey Learn moreIf you've searched for B12 injections for weight loss near you, the honest answer is this: vitamin B12 injections are not a licensed weight-loss treatment in the UK, and there is no robust clinical evidence that they cause fat loss in people whose B12 levels are already normal. They are widely marketed at beauty clinics and wellness studios, which is why the question comes up so often — but the medical picture is more straightforward than the marketing suggests. If clinically regulated weight-loss injections are what you're looking for, the licensed options in the UK are tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and semaglutide (Wegovy), both prescription-only medicines reviewed by a qualified prescriber before they are dispensed.

Walk past enough wellness clinics and you'll see B12 shots advertised alongside weight-loss packages. The implication is that a weekly jab boosts your metabolism and helps the kilograms shift. It's a persistent idea, but it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient involved in energy metabolism at a cellular level, and that cellular role is where the confusion starts. 'Supports energy metabolism' is a factual statement about B12's biochemistry; it does not mean 'causes weight loss in healthy people'.
When someone is genuinely deficient in B12, they may feel profoundly tired, which can reduce physical activity and lower motivation. Correcting that deficiency (whether through injections, oral supplements, or diet) can restore normal energy levels and improve wellbeing. That is a meaningful health benefit. But restored energy is not the same thing as fat loss, and clinical trials have not demonstrated that giving B12 to people who are not deficient produces any reduction in body weight. The NHS overview of obesity treatments does not list B12 injections because the evidence base simply isn't there.
A question our prescribers hear most weeks, in various forms, is whether there's a cheaper or simpler alternative to GLP-1 medicines, and B12 injections often come up. The answer is always the same: simpler, yes; clinically comparable, no.
The weight-loss injections backed by MHRA licensing and NICE guidance work through a completely different mechanism from B12. Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors (GIP and GLP-1) reducing appetite, slowing the rate at which food leaves the stomach, and shifting the body's energy balance over weeks and months. Semaglutide targets the GLP-1 receptor alone and achieves a similar effect. Both are once-weekly subcutaneous injections.
The evidence behind them is substantial. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial, tirzepatide produced an average body-weight reduction of around 20–21% at the 15mg dose over 72 weeks, across more than 2,500 adults with obesity. Semaglutide 2.4mg produced around 15% average reduction in the STEP 1 trial at 68 weeks, published in the New England Journal of Medicine. No B12 product has produced results in that range in any peer-reviewed trial in people with normal nutritional status.
Both tirzepatide and semaglutide are Prescription-Only Medicines. A prescriber assesses your medical history, current medicines and BMI before issuing a prescription. That step is not a formality, it's how the treatment is made safe for you specifically. You can read more about how to access weight-loss injections in the UK through a regulated route.
The phrase 'near me' usually means you want something local, immediate and accessible. A regulated online pharmacy can actually deliver on all three in ways a high-street clinic sometimes can't. At nume (sorry, at a GPhC-registered online pharmacy like the one behind this service) a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber reviews your consultation the same day, and if treatment is clinically suitable, it is dispatched the same working day for free next-working-day delivery by DPD. The pen arrives in plain packaging. No commute, no waiting room.
If you'd prefer a face-to-face assessment, finding a doctor who provides weight-loss injections near you is a reasonable starting point, and some GP practices are now able to prescribe tirzepatide under the 2026/27 NHS contract. Access through the NHS remains phased and criteria-dependent, so many people seek a private route, and our guide to weight loss injections near you covers how to find regulated providers in your area. Details of what to look for in a regulated provider (and how to check any pharmacy on the GPhC register) are covered on our guide to who offers weight-loss injections near you.

None of the above should put anyone off investigating whether they actually are B12 deficient, it's a legitimate and common nutritional concern, particularly for people following a vegan or vegetarian diet, older adults, and those with certain gut conditions that affect absorption. Deficiency is diagnosed with a blood test, and if confirmed, B12 injections (hydroxocobalamin) are available on the NHS through your GP. The NHS medicines page for B12 explains the evidence and correct clinical use.
The distinction worth keeping clear is this: treating a diagnosed deficiency to restore normal health is sound medicine. Seeking B12 shots at a wellness clinic as a weight-loss tool is a different proposition entirely, unsupported by clinical evidence. If weight management is the goal, the treatments designed for it (reviewed and prescribed by qualified clinicians) are the right place to start. Our detailed page on B12 injections and weight loss covers the evidence in full, including what the research does and doesn't show.
