Start journey Learn moreIf you want to buy Mounjaro from Eli Lilly in the UK, the short answer is: you can't buy it directly from Lilly. Eli Lilly manufactures tirzepatide and supplies it through the licensed UK wholesale chain; from there it reaches GPhC-registered pharmacies, which can only dispense it against a valid prescription. That prescription can only follow a clinical assessment by a qualified prescriber. No shortcut exists — and any seller claiming otherwise is a red flag worth taking seriously. At nume, our GPhC-registered online pharmacy sources Mounjaro through that authorised supply chain, and every order begins with a free consultation reviewed by a real prescriber the same day.

Eli Lilly produces Mounjaro and holds its UK marketing authorisation. The company sells into the licensed wholesale distribution network; it does not sell pens directly to patients, and it does not run a consumer portal. You can read more about this on our page covering whether it's possible to buy Mounjaro directly from Eli Lilly. The practical consequence is that the only legitimate route to tirzepatide (as Eli Lilly's supply chain intends) is through a pharmacy that holds a GPhC premises registration and dispenses against a genuine UK prescription.
That structure exists for good reason. Mounjaro is a Prescription-Only Medicine under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012. A prescriber assesses your medical history, current medicines, BMI and any relevant conditions before deciding whether treatment is appropriate. Eligibility isn't automatic: private licensed criteria cover adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above alongside at least one weight-related condition such as hypertension, high cholesterol or prediabetes. The prescriber decides the whole picture, not just a number.
Worth knowing before you proceed: Lilly's tirzepatide clinical programme, including the SURMOUNT trials, involved thousands of participants whose results inform what prescribers look for today. The NICE appraisal of tirzepatide (TA1026) sets out the UK evidence base clearly.
The MHRA has been explicit about counterfeit weight-loss pens circulating online. A first major enforcement action in October 2023 found fake pens containing insulin rather than the medicine on the label; by late 2025, around 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines (valued at roughly £45 million) had been seized, and a counterfeit tirzepatide manufacturing site was raided in Northampton. These are not edge cases.
Before you hand over any personal or payment details to an online pharmacy, spend thirty seconds on the GPhC's public register at pharmacyregulation.org. Search by name or premises number; if the pharmacy isn't listed, walk away. Red flags include sellers offering tirzepatide without a prescription, pricing that sits far below any credible market figure, social-media storefronts, and discount codes attached to a Prescription-Only Medicine. Report anything suspicious through the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme, which accepts reports on both side effects and suspect sellers.
If you'd like a broader view of where to obtain tirzepatide safely, our page on the best place to buy Mounjaro in the UK covers the landscape in more detail.
Once you've verified the pharmacy, the next step is the consultation itself. At nume, the process runs as follows. You complete a free online consultation, medical history, current medicines, weight, any relevant conditions. A GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber reviews it personally that same day. If you need to confirm what's involved before committing, our FAQs page has the detail.
If the prescriber determines treatment is clinically suitable, you'll go through identity and live weight verification, photo ID and a brief video check. This is a safety step, not an inconvenience: it's part of why a legitimate pharmacy can stand behind every prescription it issues. GP notification follows, in line with GPhC guidance. Patients transferring from another provider, or requesting a dose increase, provide supporting evidence as part of that review. Once approved and ordered before 12pm on a working day, treatment is dispatched the same day from our registered pharmacy and arrives free the following working day by tracked DPD delivery.

A common question is whether Mounjaro is available through a GP rather than privately. The answer is increasingly yes, but with meaningful caveats. From April 2026, GP practices can prescribe tirzepatide under the updated QOF contract, but participation is optional and NHS eligibility thresholds are strict. The current NHS cohort requires a BMI of 40 or above and four or more of a defined list of conditions. You can read how the phased rollout works on our NHS Mounjaro access page, or see how GP prescribing sits within that on our getting Mounjaro from a GP guide.
For people who don't meet NHS criteria, or who'd rather not wait, private treatment through a regulated pharmacy is the straightforward alternative. The clinical rigour is identical (a valid prescription from a qualified prescriber, medicine from Eli Lilly's authorised supply chain) and with a same-day clinical review, you typically know where you stand the day you apply. Our weight-loss overview sets out the full treatment picture if you're still weighing options. When you're ready, speak to our prescribers through a free consultation to find out whether tirzepatide is right for you.
