One transparent price covers everything: consultation, prescription, the medicine, delivery, and 7-day aftercare — no hidden charges, no subscription, no auto-renewal

The only legal route to a Wegovy pen in the UK is a prescription issued after a clinical assessment by a qualified prescriber. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine; no pharmacy, online or otherwise, can dispense it without one. Once you have that prescription, a GPhC-registered online pharmacy can supply it quickly and discreetly. What follows explains how that process works, what to look for in a provider, and what the genuine risks are if you try to cut corners.

The decisions that sit between you and a Wegovy pen, and how each one works

Decision one: are you going through the NHS or a regulated private pharmacy?

Both routes are legitimate. The NHS route, governed by NICE's appraisal of semaglutide (TA875), runs through specialist weight management services and typically requires a BMI of 35 or above alongside at least one weight-related health condition. Waiting lists in many areas run to months or longer, and the two-year treatment limit is built into the NICE recommendation. If you meet the criteria and can wait, that is a perfectly reasonable path.

The private route through a regulated online pharmacy has no referral requirement and no waiting list. You still need a prescription from a real prescriber, the clinical assessment is not optional, it is the law. What changes is the speed and the access threshold. Privately, the licensed eligibility is a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or obstructive sleep apnoea. Lower BMI thresholds apply for some ethnic backgrounds under UK guidance. A prescriber weighs all of this alongside your full health picture; a number alone never decides anything.

Whichever route you choose, if you are ready to buy Wegovy through a regulated pharmacy, it remains a prescription-only medicine and clinical oversight is always part of the process. The decision is really about timeline and eligibility, not about finding a way around that oversight.

Decision two: which provider do you trust with a prescription medicine?

This is where caution genuinely matters. Every legitimate online pharmacy in the UK must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You can verify any provider in seconds on the GPhC register, and you should, before you hand over any personal or payment details.

The MHRA has been blunt about the fake-pen problem. Counterfeit semaglutide and tirzepatide pens have been seized across the UK in large quantities, some containing insulin rather than the medicine on the label, with hospitalisations resulting. An MHRA warning applies to social-media sellers, websites with no verifiable pharmacy registration, and anyone offering these medicines without first requiring a prescription. Prices far below the typical private market are a practical red flag, as is any seller advertising a discount code for a prescription medicine. If something looks too convenient, it probably is.

At nume, our GPhC registration number is 9012878, verifiable at the link above. Our medicines come through the licensed UK supply chain with authorised Novo Nordisk supplier relationships. That is not a marketing line; it is the baseline you should expect from any provider you consider.

Decision three: what does the buying process actually look like at a regulated pharmacy?

Once you have chosen a registered provider, the process is straightforward. At nume's consultation page, you complete a free clinical questionnaire covering your health history, current medicines and weight. A GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber reads your answers personally and, if treatment is appropriate, issues a prescription. That happens the same day.

You will also go through photo-ID verification and live weight verification on video, both required by our clinical standards, not just recommended. Transfer patients coming from another provider need to supply evidence of their current dose; dose increases require the same. If our prescribers have questions, they will ask them before approving anything.

Once approved, orders placed before 12pm on a working day are dispatched the same day and arrive the next working day via DPD tracked delivery, plain packaging, no branding on the outside. If you are wondering whether a Monday order would arrive before you travel mid-week, the answer is yes, provided your consultation is completed and approved by noon. Every repeat order goes through its own clinical review; there is no auto-renewal that skips that step.

For practical questions about needles and injection supplies, our guide to buying needles for a Wegovy pen covers what comes in the box and what you may want to keep spare, and if you are ever curious whether you can buy extra needles for your Wegovy pen separately, we cover that too. If you would like to understand more about what semaglutide actually is and how it works before consulting, and including guidance on how to get an extra dose out of a Wegovy pen safely, the Wegovy information page is the place to start.

Decision four: what if Wegovy is not the right fit for you?

Wegovy is one of two injection-based weight-management medicines currently licensed in the UK. It is a GLP-1 receptor agonist; its clinical trial data show an average of around 15% body-weight reduction over 68 weeks at the 2.4mg maintenance dose, as reported in the STEP 1 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine. A higher 7.2mg maintenance dose was approved by the MHRA in early 2026 for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, with trial data suggesting around 20.7% average weight loss at that dose.

For some patients, tirzepatide (a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist) may be more appropriate, and our prescribers consider both options during the consultation. You can read a broader overview of available treatments on our weight-loss treatments page. There is also a version of semaglutide available as a daily tablet rather than a weekly injection, and the injectable semaglutide page compares that context if the needle question is part of your thinking.

The prescriber's job is to work out what is clinically suitable for you. If Wegovy is not it (because of a contraindication, a drug interaction, or simply because another medicine fits better) that will come out in the consultation. That is not a barrier; it is the point of having a real clinician involved. Check your eligibility and start that conversation at our free consultation page.
