The BMI thresholds that open the door, and the conditions that close it

UK licensing sets the headline BMI thresholds at 30 or above for weight management alone, or 27 to 29.9 where a qualifying condition is present. Groups for whom Wegovy is not recommended

Pregnancy is a firm boundary. Wegovy is not recommended during pregnancy, and the MHRA advises using effective contraception while on treatment. Women using oral contraceptive pills should be aware that semaglutide can affect how the gut moves, which in theory may affect pill absorption, though current NHS evidence does not confirm the same degree of risk seen with tirzepatide.
