Start journey Learn moreThe honest answer to 'cheapest Wegovy UK' is this: Wegovy (semaglutide) is a prescription-only medicine, and any legitimate supply requires a clinical assessment by a registered prescriber before a single dose is dispensed. Prices across private providers vary considerably — typically in the range of £149 to £375 per month depending on dose and provider — but the number on the price tag is only part of the picture. What those prices include (and frequently exclude) is what actually shapes the value of what you're buying.

Wegovy contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist that works by mimicking a gut hormone involved in appetite regulation and gastric emptying. It is a prescription-only medicine. That is not a technicality, it means a prescriber is legally required to assess whether it is appropriate for you specifically before any supply can happen. So the real question behind 'cheapest Wegovy' is: cheapest from whom, and with what included?
When you see a headline monthly figure from a private provider, it is worth asking four things: does it include the initial consultation, the prescription charge, ongoing clinical review before each repeat supply, and delivery? A £149 headline price that adds £30 for the prescription and £9.99 for delivery is not £149. Our Wegovy price comparison guide walks through exactly how to read these listings side by side, so you can compare like with like rather than headline with headline.
The other thing a price cannot tell you is whether the supply chain is legitimate. The MHRA has seized approximately 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines (estimated street value around £45 million) in 2025 enforcement operations alone, and counterfeit tirzepatide pens have been found being manufactured in the UK. Fake pens have contained insulin, a genuinely dangerous substance in the wrong hands. The lowest-priced listings online are disproportionately the ones to treat with caution.
Wegovy's approved titration pathway starts at 0.25 mg and moves through 0.5 mg, 1.0 mg and 1.7 mg before reaching the standard 2.4 mg maintenance dose, with roughly four weeks at each level. In April 2026 the MHRA also approved a 7.2 mg single-dose pen, representing a higher maintenance option for eligible adults, clinical trial data at this dose reported an average weight loss of around 20.7% over 72 weeks, approaching the results seen with higher-dose tirzepatide.
The practical cost implication is that the first few months of treatment are at lower doses, and providers price pens by strength. A patient comparing month-one costs across providers may be comparing different doses, different pen formats, or different titration timings. The full picture only emerges once you know which dose you would be starting at and how quickly your prescriber expects to titrate. Our overview of how Wegovy works in practice covers the schedule in plain terms.
It also helps to know that Wegovy is a Black Triangle medicine, meaning it carries additional MHRA monitoring. That monitoring exists because it is still building its post-market evidence base, a reason to want prescriber oversight at every repeat, not just at the first order.
A private prescription for Wegovy through a GPhC-registered online pharmacy should include, at minimum: a clinical consultation, a same-day review by a registered prescriber, identity verification, the medicine itself, and delivery. Some services charge for each of these separately; others bundle them. Neither model is inherently wrong, but the bundled model makes budgeting straightforward and removes the risk of surprise charges when you go back for your second month.
At nume, the price you see covers the consultation, the prescription, the medicine and tracked next-working-day delivery, no subscription, no auto-renewal, no extras added at checkout. Every repeat order is reviewed by a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber before anything is dispatched. That is not the cheapest way to run a weight-loss service. It is, we think, the right way. If you want to read about the people behind the clinical oversight, our clinical team profile gives the detail.
Worth noting: if your pen needs to be kept in the fridge door alongside your milk and orange juice, you want to know it has come through the licensed UK supply chain, not just that it arrived quickly and cheaply.
Wegovy is available on the NHS, but under NICE appraisal TA875 it is recommended only within specialist weight management services, for a maximum of two years, for adults with a BMI of 35 or above (or 30 to 34.9 where specialist-referral criteria are met) and at least one weight-related comorbidity. Lower thresholds apply for South Asian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds. Waiting lists for these specialist services are commonly long, and not every area has equivalent provision. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland operate under different access criteria, so eligibility can vary depending on where you live.
For people who do not meet NHS criteria, or who do not want to wait, a regulated private clinic or pharmacy is the realistic alternative. The semaglutide overview explains the difference between Wegovy, Ozempic and the newer oral tablet, important context if you have seen different semaglutide products mentioned at very different price points, since they are licensed for different purposes. Our broader weight-loss treatments page also covers how the medicines available privately compare in terms of eligibility and evidence.
Some people experience side effects as they titrate up, most of which are gastrointestinal (nausea, changes in bowel habit, indigestion) and tend to settle within the first couple of weeks at a new dose. If you experience chest discomfort alongside GI symptoms, our page on semaglutide and chest pain covers what is known, and you can also find more detail about whether Wegovy can cause chest pain specifically, including which symptoms warrant urgent attention. Separately, some patients notice body aches on Wegovy, particularly early in treatment, again, a question our prescribers hear regularly. All of this is managed best when there is a prescriber available to ask. If the service you choose is genuinely cheap, ask whether aftercare is included or billed separately.
If you have read this far and you are ready to find out whether Wegovy is clinically suitable for you, the first step costs nothing. Check your eligibility through our free consultation, a real prescriber reviews every submission the same day.
