Private treatment exists precisely because NHS access is restricted; that context partly explains why private pricing moves with manufacturer list prices rather than being anchored to any subsidy.

What a headline price can leave out

This is the part that catches people out. A quoted monthly figure for Wegovy in a Google ad or a comparison site sometimes covers the medicine only. Delivery, which for a temperature-sensitive injectable medicine requires tracked courier handling, is frequently an extra. Why price is the wrong question to lead with for a prescription medicine

The MHRA has been clear on this. Fake weight-loss pens (some containing insulin rather than semaglutide) have been seized in large quantities in UK enforcement operations, and the common thread in every case is that they were sold cheaply, without a prescription, through social-media channels or unverified websites. Saving £30 a month on a medicine that turns out to be counterfeit is not a saving at all. The right question is not which provider quotes the lowest number, but whether that provider can be verified on the GPhC pharmacy register, whether a real prescriber assesses your records before supply, and whether the medicine comes through the licensed UK supply chain. Those are the checks that matter most.
