Why your first-month loss probably won't match the trial averages

The STEP 1 trial (published in the New England Journal of Medicine) followed 1,961 adults over 68 weeks and found an average weight reduction of around 15% in participants on semaglutide 2.4mg. That figure covers the whole treatment period, not a single month, and it includes people who eventually reached full maintenance dosing after months of titration.

Wegovy begins at 0.25mg and steps up roughly every four weeks through 0.5mg, 1.0mg, 1.7mg and finally 2.4mg. The early doses are there for tolerability, not yet delivering the full appetite effect. So if you're asking how much weight you can lose on Wegovy in your first month, the honest answer is: probably less than you'd like, and less than the headline trial numbers suggest. The question for any prescription treatment isn't which provider costs least, it's whether the medicine is genuine, the prescribing is legitimate and the clinical oversight is real. A small saving isn't worth much against those risks.
