Start journey Learn moreIn the UK, Wegovy is available only on a private prescription — there is no general NHS route for most people right now — and private monthly costs typically range from roughly £150 to over £300 depending on your dose and the provider you choose. That range reflects the fact that semaglutide (Wegovy) is a prescription-only medicine: every legitimate supply must include a prescriber's assessment, and the price you see should account for that. At the lower end of the market, it rarely does. Wegovy is not a supplement you order like vitamins; a clinical consultation is required by law before any pen is dispensed.

The most common misconception people bring to this question is that the figure advertised (say, £149 or £199) is what Wegovy costs. Sometimes it is. Often it isn't. Some providers list the pen cost alone and charge separately for the consultation, the prescription, delivery, and any clinical support between orders. Add those up and the headline figure can look very different by the time you check out.
That confusion is worth naming plainly, because it catches people out. A low per-pen price paired with a £25 consultation fee, a £10 prescription charge, and a delivery cost starts to close the gap with providers who bundle everything. For a medicine you'll be taking over months, those recurring charges compound quickly. Calculating Wegovy's monthly cost properly means adding every line item, not just the pen.
The other thing headline prices rarely flag: Eli Lilly raised Mounjaro's UK list price significantly from September 2025, and Novo Nordisk's supply economics follow their own trajectory, with what it costs to manufacture Wegovy shaping those dynamics in ways that private market prices have moved with. So any figure you read in a press article from 2023 or 2024 is likely out of date. Current pricing on this page reflects the market as it stands in mid-2026, and it will keep shifting.
Wegovy's licensed titration schedule runs from 0.25mg up through 0.5mg, 1.0mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg) and the MHRA approved a higher 7.2mg maintenance dose in early 2026, with a dedicated single-dose pen confirmed in April of that year. Each dose step means a different pen, and higher doses typically cost more per pen. So what Wegovy costs you at month two will be different from month eight if your prescriber titrates you upward, as most treatment plans do.
Reported private market prices since mid-2025 sit roughly in the £150–£300+ per four-week range across the dose spectrum, varying by provider and pen strength. Those are descriptive figures drawn from what's widely reported; no provider is obliged to hold them, and they can change without notice. If you want the specific cost for the 2.4mg maintenance dose or the 1.7mg step, those pages go into detail on each.
Wegovy is also structurally different from cheaper semaglutide products you might find online. The MHRA licenses medicines for the UK, its April 2026 approval of the 7.2mg Wegovy pen is an example of that licensing process in action. Unlicensed or unverified semaglutide products sold outside the licensed supply chain are not the same thing, and the MHRA has warned explicitly about counterfeit pens circulating online. You can check whether any online pharmacy is legitimate using the GPhC pharmacy register; it takes thirty seconds and it matters.
Apologies) that should read nume. One transparent price at nume covers your consultation, the prescription, your treatment, and free next-working-day delivery. There are no additional fees at repeat order. No subscription locks you in. Every repeat goes through a fresh clinical review before dispatch, a real prescriber reads your notes again, not a system that auto-approves.
We don't position ourselves as the cheapest option available. That's a deliberate choice. What we can say plainly is that the price you're quoted is the price you pay, and it buys you a clinical service that our team stands behind. Current treatment pricing is shown on our weight-loss treatments page, we don't print per-pen figures in editorial copy, because they change and we'd rather you see the live number.
If you want to understand how semaglutide compares to tirzepatide on cost, this page on semaglutide pricing runs through both. And if you're weighing up Wegovy's price against what the NHS might eventually offer, our treatment overview covers the NHS access picture honestly.
Wegovy is a Prescription-Only Medicine. That classification exists because it carries real clinical considerations, titration, contraindications, monitoring, side-effect management. The right metric when choosing a provider isn't the lowest price; it's whether the clinical infrastructure behind that price is sound.
NICE's appraisal of semaglutide for weight management frames it as a treatment to be used within structured clinical support, not a product dispensed in isolation. Providers that strip out the clinical layer to reduce the headline figure are removing what makes the medicine safe to take, not giving you a bargain. Part of getting that clinical layer right is understanding how much protein you should be eating on Wegovy, because nutrition guidance is one of the things a thorough prescriber will discuss with you, not leave you to guess at. A small saving per pen isn't the measure that keeps you on the right dose, responding to side effects, or appropriately monitored over months of treatment.
If you're ready to see whether Wegovy is clinically suitable for you, the consultation is free, takes a few minutes, and is reviewed the same day by one of our GPhC-registered prescribers. Check your eligibility here. There's no obligation and no charge until a prescription is issued and you choose to proceed.
