Start journey Learn moreMost adults using Wegovy for weight management lose somewhere between 10% and 15% of their body weight over roughly 68 weeks, based on the STEP 1 clinical trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine — with a meaningful number losing considerably more. The newly approved 7.2mg dose narrows that gap further, with trial data pointing to around 20.7% average loss at the higher maintenance level. These are prescription-only medicines; a prescriber assesses whether Wegovy is right for you before anything is dispensed. If you have been searching for what results are realistic, and what private treatment genuinely costs, this page answers both questions plainly.

Picture this: you've spent ten minutes reading about Wegovy online, you've seen figures ranging from 10% to 20% weight loss, and now you're trying to work out whether the monthly cost makes sense for your situation. That uncertainty is exactly where most people start.
The clinical evidence is actually clear, even if it gets muddled in press coverage. The STEP 1 trial followed adults with obesity over 68 weeks at the 2.4mg maintenance dose of semaglutide (Wegovy). The average body-weight reduction was around 15%, with many participants losing considerably more. In January 2026 the MHRA approved a higher 7.2mg dose, and trial data at that level showed average losses of around 20.7% over 72 weeks, approaching what tirzepatide trials have reported. If you want to understand how much weight you can realistically lose on Wegovy at different doses, our detailed results guide goes through each maintenance level in turn, and our guide to how much weight Wegovy typically produces adds further context on what those figures mean in practice.
What matters practically is that these are population averages from controlled trials. Individual results depend on starting weight, how consistently lifestyle changes are made alongside treatment, how well the titration schedule is tolerated, and how long treatment continues. A prescriber can give a much more grounded picture of what is realistic for your circumstances. That conversation is where results projections should actually happen, not in a search engine.
UK private pricing for Wegovy is set per pen, which covers four weekly injections, and varies by dose and provider. Eli Lilly's September 2025 list-price increase for Mounjaro was widely reported and affected the broader market; semaglutide pricing has followed its own trajectory. If you are wondering whether a Wegovy price reduction applies to your treatment, our guide sets out what has changed and what to expect. As things stand, private Wegovy treatment typically runs somewhere in the range that reflects clinical review, prescription, the medicine itself, and dispensing, all legitimate costs that the regulated supply chain requires.
The problem with most quoted prices is what they leave out. Some headline figures cover the pen alone, with consultation fees, prescription charges and delivery billed separately at the checkout. Others bundle a monthly subscription that auto-renews whether or not a prescriber has reviewed your latest response to treatment. Neither is ideal for a medicine that requires ongoing clinical assessment to be used safely.
At nume, one transparent price covers everything: the clinical consultation, the prescription, the medicine, and free next-working-day delivery. There are no subscription tiers, no renewal charges you did not agree to, and no delivery minimums. Current treatment prices are on our treatment page, we do not print per-pen figures in body copy because the right starting dose is a clinical decision, not a catalogue choice. For a fuller picture of how Wegovy pricing compares across the market, our Wegovy pricing guide sets out what to look for and what to question.
We lose the price comparison on purpose. Wegovy is a Prescription-Only Medicine. The clinical infrastructure around it (identity checks, live weight verification on video, GP notification in line with GPhC guidance, prescriber review before every repeat) costs money to do properly. Cutting that cost cuts corners. Cutting corners on a GLP-1 medicine creates real risk.
The MHRA has documented fake weight-loss pens being sold without a prescription through social media and unofficial websites. Some contained insulin instead of semaglutide. Reports have involved hospitalisations. The regulator advises verifying any online pharmacy on the GPhC register before purchasing; nume's registration number is 9012878. Sellers offering Wegovy at dramatically lower prices, or promising access without clinical assessment, are the sellers to avoid, not the ones who charge fairly for doing it correctly. You can read about the risks of unverified sellers on this page alongside real treatment context, or check our FAQ section if you have specific questions about how the process works.
If payday falls on the last Friday of the month and you are thinking about starting treatment then, or you want to order on a Monday so your pen arrives Tuesday, the 12pm cut-off is the thing to keep in mind, orders placed before noon on a working day are dispatched the same day once clinically approved.
For an over-the-counter supplement, price is a reasonable first filter. For a prescription medicine, the better questions are: is this pharmacy registered with the GPhC, is a real prescriber reviewing my case, and is the medicine coming from the licensed UK supply chain? Price answers none of those.
Wegovy is licensed in the UK for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above where a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or raised cholesterol is present. Lower BMI thresholds apply for some ethnic backgrounds under UK clinical guidance. NICE's appraisal of semaglutide (TA875) sets out the evidence base that underpins its use. None of that clinical framework gets cheaper by shopping on price alone, and if a provider is not applying it, the savings come at a cost that does not appear on the invoice. Our Wegovy overview page covers the full picture of how it works, who it suits, and how to approach treatment sensibly. If you are weighing Wegovy against the newer oral semaglutide option or against tirzepatide, our treatment comparison page is a reasonable next step before booking a consultation.
