How to Store Mounjaro at Home

Step 1: When your delivery arrives, act within the hour

The moment it lands, open the outer box and transfer the pens to your fridge. Do not leave them on a worktop while you get on with something else. Avoid the fridge door for Mounjaro. Door shelves cycle through warmer air every time the door opens. A middle or lower shelf, towards the back, is more temperature-stable. Never place a pen near the ice-making compartment or the freezer drawer. Freezing the medicine irreversibly damages the active ingredient. Step 2: Moving a pen from fridge to room temperature before injecting

Cold medicine from the fridge can make the injection more uncomfortable. Allowing the pen to warm up to room temperature before you inject is a practical step many patients find helpful. Step 3: Handling used pens and storage over the longer term

Each Mounjaro KwikPen contains four weekly doses. After each use, the pen goes back into the fridge. Keep the cap on whenever it is not in use. Do not store the pen with a needle attached, changing the needle each time you inject is the standard practice, and replacement needles can be ordered alongside your treatment if you need extras.

Used needles and finished pens must go into a sharps container, never into household recycling or a general bin. Local pharmacies and GP surgeries typically accept sealed sharps containers for disposal. The pen body is not a standard household item once it has had a needle attached; treat it accordingly from the first dose.
