Mounjaro®

Start journey Learn moreMounjaro is manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers. In the UK, Lilly supplies the medicine through its licensed wholesale distribution network, meaning every genuine Mounjaro KwikPen that reaches a patient travels from Lilly's authorised supply chain to a GPhC-registered pharmacy before a prescriber can issue it. Because Mounjaro is a Prescription-Only Medicine, no company — manufacturer, distributor or pharmacy — can legally supply it without a valid prescription following a clinical assessment. Understanding which companies are involved at each stage helps you spot the legitimate route and avoid the counterfeits that the MHRA has warned about repeatedly since 2023.

Eli Lilly and Company developed and holds the UK marketing authorisation for Mounjaro. The medicine's active ingredient, tirzepatide, is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, the only weight-loss medicine licensed in the UK that works on both of those gut-hormone pathways simultaneously. Lilly manufactures every pen, packs them, and releases them only through authorised wholesale distributors. If you want to understand the clinical profile of tirzepatide, the tirzepatide overview on this site covers the mechanism in detail.
In September 2025 Lilly raised Mounjaro's UK list price substantially, the highest-dose pen moved from around £122 to around £330 per four-week pen. That pricing decision flows from Lilly directly, not from individual pharmacies, though private providers set their own service fees on top. The company behind Mounjaro page goes deeper on Lilly's history and pipeline if you'd like more background.
One practical implication: genuine Mounjaro is not available from overseas internet sellers at dramatically lower prices. If you are wondering where you can find tirzepatide legitimately, the answer is always through an authorised UK prescriber and GPhC-registered pharmacy, never through a seller offering it cheaply without requiring a prescription. That is the first red flag the MHRA asks patients to watch for.
Between the manufacturer and the patient sits the most important company in the chain: the prescribing service. In the UK, Mounjaro can only be prescribed by a registered doctor, nurse independent prescriber or pharmacist independent prescriber following a face-to-face or clinically robust remote consultation. No automated system, algorithm or website form qualifies as a prescriber under UK law.
At nume, every consultation is personally read and decided by a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber. Your answers and, crucially, your live weight verification on video call go to a named clinician the same day. That clinical review is what separates a legitimate prescribing company from one that processes orders without genuine oversight. If a company cannot tell you the name and registration of the prescriber who approved your treatment, that is a significant concern worth raising with the MHRA.
It also matters for ongoing treatment. A prescriber's job doesn't end at the first pen. Dose increases, repeat supplies and any side effects all require clinical re-review, which is why the prescribing company you choose shapes your whole experience, not just the first delivery. For a fuller look at what makes one prescribing route different from another, the guide to choosing where to get Mounjaro sets out the key questions to ask.
Once a prescriber approves treatment, a GPhC-registered pharmacy dispenses the medication. This is another layer of safety: the pharmacist checks the prescription against clinical records, confirms the supply chain provenance of the stock, and is legally responsible for what leaves the dispensary. You can verify any UK online pharmacy on the GPhC's public register in seconds, it is the single most reliable check available to patients.
nume operates its own GPhC-registered pharmacy (registration number 9012878). Orders placed before 12pm Monday to Friday and approved the same day are dispatched that afternoon and arrive the next working day via DPD. The parcel is plain, unbranded, your tracking notification comes from DPD, and the pen itself is in its original Lilly packaging with the KwikPen seal intact. That unbroken chain from Lilly's authorised supply to your door is what the licence promises.
For cost context, what varies between legitimate pharmacies is the total service package: whether a consultation fee is charged separately, whether aftercare is included, and whether repeat orders trigger automatic billing. The Mounjaro treatment page explains what the price at nume covers. If cost comparisons are your main question right now, the weight-loss treatment overview lays out the full picture.
The MHRA has been clear and increasingly urgent: counterfeit Mounjaro pens are in circulation. In October 2025 enforcement officers raided the UK's first illicit manufacturing site producing fake tirzepatide pens, in Northampton. Approximately 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines, valued at around £45m, were seized across 2025. Some fake pens have contained insulin rather than tirzepatide, the consequences for a non-diabetic person can be life-threatening.
The companies to avoid share recognisable patterns: they advertise on social media, they offer medicines without requiring a prescription from a named registered clinician, and their prices sit well below the Lilly list price even before any service fee. If something looks like it's cutting every step out of the chain described above, it probably is. You can report suspect sellers directly through the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme, which handles both adverse events and reports of suspected counterfeit or illegal supply.
Questions about how the access process works in practice are answered in the frequently asked questions section, or you can reach the clinical team directly through the contact page. For a broader look at what's involved in getting Mounjaro online safely, that page walks through verification steps in full.
