Start journey Learn morePrivate semaglutide prices in the UK typically range from around £149 to well over £300 per month depending on the dose, the provider, and what the headline figure actually covers. There is no single market rate for semaglutide: it is a prescription-only medicine, which means every legitimate supply must follow a clinical assessment by a qualified prescriber. The price you pay should reflect that — and when it seems unusually low, it is worth asking what has been left out. This page walks through how UK private pricing works, what legitimate costs include, and how to judge value for a medicine rather than a product.

Semaglutide for weight management is sold in the UK as Wegovy, a once-weekly injection made by Novo Nordisk. It is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above alongside a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. Because it is a prescription-only medicine under UK law, cost cannot be separated from the clinical infrastructure around it, a quoted price should always bundle the consultation, the prescription itself, the medicine, and the means of getting it to you safely. Our Wegovy overview covers the licensed indications and dose schedule in full.
Reported private prices since Eli Lilly raised its Mounjaro list price in late 2025 have pulled the wider injectable weight-loss market upward, and semaglutide pricing has shifted alongside. Across the private market, monthly costs at lower doses are commonly quoted from around £149; higher maintenance doses can reach £300 or more. These figures are hedged by dose, prescriber discretion, and what a given provider chooses to include, which brings us to the more useful question: what does the headline number actually cover? For a closer look at how semaglutide is priced across the UK private market, including how figures vary by provider and dose, our dedicated guide goes into that detail, and for a deeper look at how figures break down pen by pen, our pen-by-pen price breakdown goes into that detail.
Headline prices in online weight-loss advertising are not always the final cost. Some providers charge separately for the initial consultation, a prescription fee, a prescription renewal fee, clinical follow-up calls, dose-change reviews, and delivery. A figure that looks competitive at the top of the page can look quite different once those lines are added at checkout.
There is also the question of aftercare. Semaglutide is titrated gradually (starting at 0.25mg and progressing through several dose levels before reaching the 2.4mg maintenance dose, or potentially the newer 7.2mg maximum) and the prescriber's input during that process is not a formality. Each dose step needs clinical oversight: checking tolerance, adjusting if needed, reviewing evidence before going higher. A provider whose fee covers only the medicine is not the same as one whose fee covers the medicine plus that ongoing clinical relationship. Comparing semaglutide prices across providers is more meaningful once you know what each quote includes.
Delivery is another variable. A next-working-day tracked service is not a given at every price point; neither is discreet packaging. Small differences in what is included can flip the apparent cost comparison once totalled over a few months of treatment.
We are not the lowest-priced option in the UK market. That is a deliberate choice, not an oversight. One transparent price covers your consultation, prescription, treatment, and free next-working-day DPD delivery to your door, no add-ons, no subscription you need to cancel, no auto-renewal. Every repeat order goes back to a real prescriber for individual review; that review is included, not billed separately.
The consultation itself is handled by a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber. You can verify our pharmacy directly on the GPhC register (registration number 9012878) at pharmacyregulation.org. Identity is confirmed with photo ID, weight is verified on a live video call, and GP notification follows in line with GPhC guidance. For people asking where to find the best prices for semaglutide, this is the layer of the answer that price-comparison tables cannot show. Current treatment pricing is shown on our weight-loss treatments page.
If you keep your pen in the fridge door and pull it out once a week on the same morning, you are trusting that what is in that pen is what the label says. Supply chain integrity is not visible in a price, but it matters more than the price itself.
The MHRA has issued repeated warnings about fake weight-loss pens circulating online, including counterfeit semaglutide products. In one enforcement sweep in 2025, approximately 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines were seized, with a street value of around £45 million. Some counterfeit pens have been found to contain insulin rather than semaglutide, a potentially life-threatening mislabelling. The MHRA advises reporting any suspect seller via the Yellow Card scheme.
Providers offering semaglutide without a prescriber-led assessment, through social-media channels, or at prices far below the reported market range are red flags, not bargains. The right measure for a prescription medicine is whether the supply chain is licensed, whether the clinical oversight is real, and whether the pharmacy is verifiable. If you are also trying to understand how the BNF price for semaglutide relates to what private providers charge, our guide explains how those two figures sit alongside each other. Our guide to the full cost of semaglutide treatment covers the longer-term picture, including what to expect if doses change. NICE's guidance on weight-management medicines, including semaglutide, is available at nice.org.uk/guidance/ta875.
If you want to understand your eligibility and what a genuine clinical assessment looks like, check your eligibility with our prescribers, the consultation is free, and there is no obligation to proceed.
