Symptoms that need medical attention, not patience

Some reactions to Wegovy are uncommon but serious enough that waiting them out is the wrong call. Knowing this list before you start treatment is genuinely useful.

Severe vomiting or diarrhoea that persists can cause dehydration serious enough to affect kidney function, if you can't keep fluids down for more than a day, contact a healthcare professional rather than pushing through.

Signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing, or a widespread rash) require emergency help. So do thoughts of self-harm or a marked change in mood, which should be reported to your GP or prescriber without delay.

What staying on Wegovy actually looks like day to day

For most people on treatment, the practical experience is a weekly injection, rotating between the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, followed by a few days where appetite is noticeably lower and occasionally a day or two of mild nausea.
