Step 2: Know what you actually do need at home

A few practical items make the process more comfortable and safe, even though none of them replace the pen's built-in mechanism.

Step 3: Watch for products that do require a syringe, and why that matters

This is where the syringe question becomes genuinely important from a safety perspective.

You may come across listings for semaglutide in vials or cartridges that are sold with separate syringes, requiring the patient to draw up their own dose. These are not Wegovy. They may be unlicensed compounded products, counterfeit preparations, or products intended for a different clinical setting entirely. Step 4: Getting the prescription right before anything else

None of this is relevant until a prescriber has decided whether semaglutide is clinically appropriate for you. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine.
