What exactly does the Wegovy demonstration pen contain?

Nothing that acts on your body. The demo pen is an inert plastic device made to replicate the look, weight and click of a real Wegovy pre-filled injection pen. How does the demonstration pen mirror the real Wegovy injection technique?

The Wegovy injection pen is a pre-filled, disposable device. You attach a fresh needle, clean the skin with an alcohol swab, insert at roughly a 90-degree angle (or 45 degrees if you have very little subcutaneous tissue on the chosen site), press the button firmly, and hold in place until both audible and visual signals confirm the dose has been delivered. The cap and needle shield are then replaced and the pen disposed of safely.

The demonstration pen reproduces each of those physical steps: capping and uncapping, attaching a practice needle, pressing the injection button, and waiting for the click. Does everyone receive a demonstration pen, and where can you get one?

Not automatically. Whether a demo pen is included depends on how your Wegovy is prescribed and dispensed. Patients starting through certain NHS specialist weight management services may receive one as part of their onboarding; patients using a private online pharmacy may or may not, depending on the service. If one was not included with your prescription, ask your prescriber or pharmacist directly, they can usually request one from Novo Nordisk or point you to an alternative resource.

Novo Nordisk also hosts instructional videos on its UK patient site that walk through the injection steps frame by frame.
