Private Wegovy prices in the UK vary by dose and provider, typically running from around £150 to over £300 per month at the standard 2.4mg maintenance dose, with any legitimate figure covering a prescription issued by a clinician, not just the pen itself. Wegovy (semaglutide) is a prescription-only medicine, so the drug price you see quoted always reflects a clinical pathway, not a retail transaction. How much of that pathway is included in the headline number is the question worth asking before you commit.

How UK private Wegovy pricing works in practice

The decision you are really making is not which provider has the lowest number on a price page. It is which provider's number covers everything a prescription medicine legally and safely requires. Wegovy is semaglutide, a once-weekly injection made by Novo Nordisk and licensed in the UK for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or from 27 with a qualifying weight-related condition. Because it is a prescription-only medicine, every supply chain must include a clinical assessment by a registered prescriber. That assessment has a cost, whether it is itemised separately or absorbed into a monthly figure.

Private prices across the UK market typically reflect the dose in the pen. The starter dose is 0.25mg, titrated upward over several months by the prescriber; higher doses, including the 2.4mg maintenance dose, are generally priced higher. Since the MHRA approved a dedicated 7.2mg single-dose Wegovy pen in April 2026, some providers are beginning to list that as an option for eligible patients too. Our full Wegovy overview sets out the licensed dose pathway and what each stage involves clinically. Eli Lilly raised Mounjaro's UK list price significantly from September 2025, and competitor medicine prices have moved in a similar direction; if you are trying to understand how Wegovy is priced across the UK market, it helps to know that private semaglutide prices have broadly followed supply-chain cost shifts over the same period. Hedge these figures as the market context they are: they change, and a quoted price today may not be the one in three months.

The short version: when you see a Wegovy price, ask whether it is the pen alone or the complete service. The answer to that question matters more than the number itself.

What headline prices sometimes leave out

A question our prescribers hear most weeks runs something like this: "I've seen it for £X elsewhere, why are your prices different?" The answer is usually found in what the £X covers. Some providers list the pen price and add consultation fees, prescription fees and delivery charges at checkout. Others bundle selectively: consultation included, delivery not; or the first dose included, repeat orders at a different rate. None of this is hidden in bad faith, but it means comparing headline figures between providers is rarely a like-for-like exercise.

Delivery is worth a specific mention. A temperature-controlled medicine like Wegovy needs reliable cold-chain logistics. A tracked, next-working-day courier service has a cost; free delivery folded into the overall price is meaningfully different from a low headline price with a postage charge added, or an unspecified delivery window that could leave a pen sitting in a warm van. Our page on Wegovy pen pricing explains how the pen format affects cost at each dose stage. Aftercare is the other commonly omitted factor. Clinical support between orders (answering questions about side effects, reviewing whether a dose increase is appropriate) requires prescriber time. Where that is included, it should be stated clearly.

For Wegovy specifically, the clinical re-review before each repeat is not optional under good pharmacy practice; it is the mechanism that keeps the treatment safe. A price that does not include it is not necessarily cheaper: it may simply be charging for it separately later, or not doing it at all.

Where nume sits on price, and why

The honest position: we are not the cheapest option on the market, and that is a deliberate choice. One transparent price at nume covers the consultation, the prescription, the treatment, free next-working-day DPD delivery in plain packaging, and priority aftercare seven days a week. There are no add-ons at checkout, no subscription fees, and no automatic renewals. Every repeat order is independently re-reviewed by a real clinician before anything is dispatched. Current treatment pricing is shown on the treatment page, where you can also start a free consultation.

The trade-off we make is straightforward: building a service with a GPhC-registered pharmacy, a team of prescribers who review consultations the same day, and same-day dispatch before 12pm once approved costs more to operate than a bare-bones fulfilment model. That cost is reflected in the price. We think that is the right trade-off for a prescription medicine. If you want to know more about how the service is structured, our about page sets that out plainly, and you can read about the clinical oversight on our clinical team page.

You can verify any online pharmacy, including ours, on the GPhC register at pharmacyregulation.org using our premises registration number 9012878. Worth doing for any provider you consider.

Why price is the wrong test for a prescription medicine

Wegovy is not a consumer product where the cheapest listing and the premium listing contain identical things. The medicine itself must come through the licensed UK supply chain; anything sold outside that route carries real risk. The MHRA has warned publicly and repeatedly about counterfeit weight-loss pens sold online and via social media, including fake pens found to contain insulin rather than the stated medicine. Enforcement in 2025 alone involved seizures of roughly 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines, worth around £45m. Sellers offering these medicines without a prescription, far below market prices, or through social media channels are red flags, not bargains. You can report suspect sellers directly through the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme.

NICE's appraisal of semaglutide for weight management, TA875, sets out the clinical criteria under which this medicine is recommended: it is a serious medical intervention, not a shortcut. The right question when comparing prices is not which number is smallest, but which provider gives you confidence that the medicine is genuine, the prescriber is qualified, and the clinical oversight continues for as long as you are on treatment. Patients starting out often want to understand what the 1mg dose costs before committing, and those approaching the maintenance phase similarly find it useful to review pricing at the 5mg stage; a small saving on the pen price does not offset a gap in any of those things. More on the full cost picture for Wegovy is available if you want to dig into the numbers further.
