Start journey Learn moreOn 11 June 2026 the MHRA approved oral semaglutide (Wegovy tablets) as the first GLP-1 medicine licensed in the UK for weight management in tablet form. Purchasing it requires a valid prescription following clinical assessment — there is no legal route that bypasses that step. The process of getting the Wegovy pill starts with a consultation, not a checkout. In clinical trials, participants who adhered fully to treatment lost around 17% of body weight over 64 weeks; the average across all participants, regardless of adherence, was approximately 13.6%. Those figures come from the OASIS 4 phase 3 trial, announced alongside Novo Nordisk's UK approval communications. As a Prescription-Only Medicine, a prescriber decides whether it is clinically appropriate for you specifically.

The MHRA's June 2026 decision made the Wegovy tablet the first oral GLP-1 weight-management medicine authorised in the UK, and the UK was the first country in Europe to grant that authorisation. Approval does not mean the tablet is available over the counter. It remains a Prescription-Only Medicine under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, which means a prescriber must assess your suitability before any supply can be made. The NHS patient information on semaglutide sets out what this class of medicine does and why clinical oversight matters throughout treatment. The licensed population is adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 29.9 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol or type 2 diabetes. BMI alone does not guarantee a prescription; the prescriber looks at your full clinical picture, including any medicines you already take and relevant medical history. Lower BMI thresholds apply for some ethnic backgrounds under UK guidance, and your prescriber will account for that during the assessment.
The tablet is not currently available on the NHS. A NICE appraisal would be required before NHS commissioning could begin, and no such appraisal had concluded by summer 2026. That makes a regulated private online pharmacy the only practical route right now for most people in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Learn more about how semaglutide tablets work and who they suit before you decide whether to start a consultation.
The GPhC register is the single most important check anyone buying a medicine online can make. Every UK pharmacy dispensing prescription medicines must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and you can verify any pharmacy (including ours) at the GPhC premises register, registration 9012878. If a seller cannot point you to a verified GPhC entry, walk away.
The MHRA has warned explicitly about fake weight-loss pens sold through social media and unverified websites. In October 2025 enforcement teams raided the first illicit UK manufacturing site producing counterfeit tirzepatide pens. Around 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines, with an estimated street value of around £45 million, were seized across 2025 enforcement operations. Fake products have contained insulin in concentrations dangerous to people without diabetes. The pattern is consistent: sellers offering prescription medicines without requiring a clinical assessment, prices well below the market rate, discount codes and no verifiable pharmacy registration. Report any suspect seller via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme, which also accepts reports of suspected side effects. None of this is designed to alarm you, it is the practical reality of buying a prescription medicine online, and knowing the red flags takes thirty seconds.
At nume the route is straightforward. You complete a free online consultation covering your weight, relevant medical history, current medicines and lifestyle, no booking, no waiting room, no 9-to-5 window. A GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber, a real clinician rather than a decision algorithm, reads your submission that same day. If the tablet is clinically appropriate, a prescription is issued and your order is prepared at our GPhC-registered UK pharmacy and dispatched. Order before midday and, if approved, it leaves the same day, useful if you want it to arrive before the school run starts the following morning. DPD delivers next working day in plain packaging with full tracking. There are no hidden fees: the price you see on the treatment page covers the consultation, prescription, medicine and delivery.
For a fuller look at where to find the tablet from a verified UK source, the guide to buying Wegovy tablets in the UK covers what to check across different providers. If you are already on the injectable form and wondering about switching, that is a clinical question for your prescriber, not a purchasing one, bring it up in your consultation. You can also read about the full range of weight-loss treatment options we offer if you want to compare before deciding.
The OASIS 4 trial that underpins the Wegovy tablet's approval ran for 64 weeks with 307 adults and included structured lifestyle support alongside the medicine. Real-world results depend on genuine supply, proper clinical monitoring and the right dose titration. The tablet starts at 1.5 mg daily, escalating through 4 mg and 9 mg to a 25 mg maintenance dose, with at least a month at each level, and a prescriber manages that progression, not the patient alone. If you are researching Wegovy pills for sale through a regulated pharmacy, understanding that clinical oversight is part of the process helps you judge whether a given seller is operating legitimately. Buying from an unverified source puts all of that at risk, and a counterfeit or mislabelled product answers a different question entirely from the one the trial asked.
Our clinical team reviews every consultation personally and remains available for aftercare questions seven days a week. If you have questions before starting, the FAQs page covers the most common ones, or you can reach the team directly via the contact page.
