Wegovy is not a single fixed dose. Treatment begins at 0.25mg weekly and is increased roughly every four weeks (through 0.5mg, 1.0mg and 1.7mg) until reaching the standard 2.4mg maintenance dose. The most recent development in the UK is the higher 7.2mg dose. Who Wegovy is licensed for, and where NICE sits on it

The UK licence covers adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 29.9 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol or obstructive sleep apnoea. Lower BMI thresholds apply for some ethnic backgrounds under UK clinical guidance. Wegovy is not licensed for under-18s, and it is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding or if you are trying to conceive.
