Start journey Learn moreIn the UK, you can get Wegovy through one of two routes: on the NHS via a specialist weight management service, or privately through a GPhC-registered online pharmacy following a clinical consultation. Either way, it is a prescription-only medicine — a qualified prescriber must assess your suitability before any treatment is dispensed. If you want to understand how Wegovy works and who it is licensed for, that is a good place to start. The private route through a regulated pharmacy like nume means no waiting list and no GP referral, though the clinical bar is the same: a real prescriber reviews your information before anything is approved.

Every legitimate route to Wegovy in the UK starts with a prescription. There is no legal way to obtain it over the counter or directly from a retailer. Where you buy Wegovy matters enormously, the medicine is classified as a Prescription-Only Medicine under UK law, and the MHRA has been explicit that it should not be sold without a clinical assessment taking place first.
The NHS route runs through specialist weight management services. NICE recommends semaglutide (Wegovy) for eligible adults within those services, usually for a maximum of two years alongside structured dietary and activity support. Waiting times vary considerably by area and the eligibility criteria are specific. An overview of weight-loss treatment options sets out what the NHS currently offers and where private treatment fits in.
The private route is faster. A regulated online pharmacy completes a clinical consultation, a prescriber reviews it, and (if appropriate) issues a prescription. Your treatment is then dispensed and delivered to you directly. That is the route nume follows. It means you can start the process today rather than joining a waiting list, but the clinical rigour is the same: suitability is assessed for every single order, not just the first.
If you are looking at where you can buy semaglutide online, the single most useful thing you can do before choosing a pharmacy is check it on the General Pharmaceutical Council's public register. Any pharmacy operating legally in Great Britain must be listed. You can verify a pharmacy at pharmacyregulation.org/registers in under a minute. If a pharmacy is not there, walk away.
You can verify who we are at nume using our GPhC premises registration number 9012878, directly at the register. We dispense Wegovy through our own GPhC-registered pharmacy, sourcing through the licensed UK supply chain with an authorised Novo Nordisk supplier relationship.
The MHRA has warned repeatedly about counterfeit weight-loss pens sold online and through social media. Fake pens have been found to contain insulin rather than semaglutide, with hospitalisations reported. In 2025 alone, enforcement operations recovered around 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines. The red flags are consistent: sellers offering these medicines without a prescription, prices that bear no relation to the real market, and social-media accounts with no verifiable pharmacy registration. Report anything suspicious at yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk.
If this search has taken you to pages promising Wegovy at remarkably low prices, that is worth pausing on. For a prescription medicine, the cheapest listing answers the wrong question.
Wegovy is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above where at least one weight-related health condition is present, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. Lower BMI thresholds apply for some ethnic backgrounds under UK guidance. Having a BMI that meets the threshold does not automatically mean a prescriber will approve treatment; they look at the whole picture, including your medical history and current medicines.
Wegovy is not licensed for use during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or when actively trying to conceive. It is not licensed for under-18s. If you are currently taking oral contraceptives, your prescriber will want to discuss contraception options with you, as NHS England's guidance on weight-management injections notes the potential for reduced pill absorption with some treatments in this class.
If you are wondering whether Wegovy is currently available or what the supply picture looks like, that is a separate practical question worth reading about before you consult. It is something our prescribers are asked most weeks.
Completing a consultation with us takes a few minutes online. You describe your health history, current medicines, weight, and goals. A GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber then reviews everything the same day. If they need to check anything further, they will, approval is never a formality. That is genuinely how it works.
If the prescriber is satisfied that treatment is clinically appropriate, your prescription is issued and dispensed from our pharmacy the same day (for orders placed before 12pm, Monday to Friday). DPD delivers the following working day, tracked, to your door. The packaging is plain. There is one transparent price that covers the consultation, the prescription, the medicine itself, and delivery. Nothing is added at checkout.
If you have transferred from another provider or are requesting a dose increase, we ask for evidence before proceeding, a photo of your current pen or a summary from your previous provider. Patients who want to understand where they can buy Wegovy near them, including whether a local or online pharmacy suits them better, will find that question is one our clinical team is well placed to help with. Our clinical team's approach is built around that standard. Every repeat order gets the same clinical re-review as the first.
When you are ready, and if you would like to read more about where you can buy semaglutide in the UK before taking the next step, that is a good place to start, starting your free consultation is where the process begins.
