Start journey Learn moreBuying Mounjaro privately in the UK means obtaining a prescription through a regulated clinical route — a licensed prescriber assesses your suitability, issues a prescription if appropriate, and a GPhC-registered pharmacy dispenses it. There is no legal shortcut. Mounjaro is a Prescription-Only Medicine, so any source that supplies it without a clinical assessment is breaking UK law. Once you understand the process, it is straightforward: a consultation (free at nume), same-day review by a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber, and next-working-day delivery if approved.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is manufactured by Eli Lilly and is only legally available in the UK via a prescription, one written by a qualified prescriber who has assessed your medical history, weight, and any relevant conditions. This is true whether you go through an NHS GP, a private clinic, or a regulated online pharmacy. The prescription route exists for good reason: Mounjaro affects how your body processes food and blood sugar, and it is not suitable for everyone.
The private route simply means you pay for the medicine and the clinical service, rather than accessing it through NHS commissioning. There is no referral letter required and no waiting list. You complete a medical consultation, a prescriber reviews it, and if you are clinically suitable a prescription is issued. At nume, that consultation is free, and our prescribers personally review every submission, a question our prescribers field most weeks is whether the process is really that fast. It is, provided you order before 12pm on a working day.
You can read a fuller breakdown of how to get Mounjaro privately, including what the consultation covers and what information you'll need to have ready.
The licensed criteria for private prescribing follow the Mounjaro SmPC. Adults with a BMI of 30 or above qualify on BMI alone. A BMI of 27 to 29.9 can also qualify if you have at least one weight-related health condition, for example, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, or obstructive sleep apnoea. Lower BMI thresholds may apply for some ethnic backgrounds under UK clinical guidance.
BMI is a starting point, not the whole picture. A prescriber also considers your medical history, current medicines, and any conditions that would make tirzepatide unsuitable. A history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, MEN2 syndrome, or certain gastrointestinal conditions, for instance, would require careful discussion. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and trying to conceive are circumstances where Mounjaro is not recommended. The medicine is not licensed for anyone under 18.
If you are unsure whether your numbers and history meet the threshold, the BMI requirements for private Mounjaro page walks through the criteria in detail. Your NHS BMI can be checked quickly using the NHS BMI calculator.
This is where a lot of buyers get caught out, and it matters. The MHRA has repeatedly warned the public about counterfeit weight-loss pens sold through social media and unverified websites. In October 2025, enforcement teams raided the first known UK site manufacturing fake tirzepatide pens, and across 2025 roughly 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines (around £45m street value) were seized. Some fake pens have contained insulin rather than the labelled medicine, with serious consequences for the people who used them. The MHRA's Yellow Card site lets you report suspect sellers.
The simplest verification step: check the GPhC register. Every pharmacy operating legally in the UK (including online pharmacies) must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You can look up any pharmacy at pharmacyregulation.org/registers. nume's GPhC registration number is 9012878, verifiable directly on that register. Red flags include sellers offering Mounjaro without a prescription, prices far below the market range, discount codes, or no verifiable pharmacy registration. If you want to understand what separates a safe, legal purchase from a risky one, our guide to buying Mounjaro covers the key checks and what to watch out for. For a Prescription-Only Medicine, the lowest price is not the right thing to optimise for.
It starts with a free medical consultation, no payment before you know whether a prescriber considers you suitable. You'll answer questions about your weight history, relevant health conditions, and current medicines, and you'll go through photo-ID verification and live weight confirmation on video. This is not bureaucracy for its own sake: it protects you and ensures the prescriber has what they need to make an informed clinical decision.
Once submitted, a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber reads your consultation the same day. If approved and clinically suitable, medicines sourced through the licensed UK supply chain are dispatched the same working day (for orders before 12pm). DPD delivers the next working day in plain packaging with full tracking. There are no subscriptions and no auto-renewals. Every repeat order goes back through clinical review before dispatch.
