At first glance it sounds almost clinical — the word "semaglutide" is right there, and lyophilisation really is a technique used in pharmaceutical labs. So what is actually in these vials, and why does the distinction matter so much?

Lyophilisation removes water from a biological compound under vacuum and very low temperatures, leaving a dry powder that is easier to store and ship.
