A single dose of Wegovy in the UK private market typically costs somewhere between roughly £149 and £375 per month, depending on the strength and the provider — though the honest answer is that a dose price alone rarely tells you what you'll actually pay once everything is added up. Wegovy (semaglutide) is a prescription-only weight-loss injection, which means no pharmacy can legally supply it without a clinical assessment by a qualified prescriber. That assessment is part of what any legitimate price has to cover, even if it isn't always listed upfront.

What the price of a Wegovy dose really covers, and what it often doesn't

Step 1: understand how UK private Wegovy pricing is actually structured

Wegovy is dispensed at five different dose levels (0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg, and 2.4mg weekly, titrated gradually by your prescriber) and more recently a 7.2mg maintenance option was approved by the MHRA. The dose you're on at any given month directly affects the price, because starter doses and maintenance doses are different products with different list prices.

In the private market, prices broadly track dose strength. Starter-dose months will sit at the lower end of that £149–£375 range; higher maintenance doses push towards the top. The figure you see quoted in a headline is almost always the price for one pen covering four weekly injections, effectively one month of treatment. What counts as 'one dose' versus one month's supply is a distinction that trips a lot of people up before they start.

The NHS does prescribe Wegovy, but through specialist weight management services with long waiting lists and strict eligibility criteria under NICE technology appraisal TA875. Private treatment exists for people who don't meet those thresholds or can't wait. A clear overview of what Wegovy treatment involves is on our weight-loss treatments page if you want the fuller picture first.

Step 2: check what the quoted price actually includes

A quoted dose price and an all-in price are often very different things. Some providers charge separately for the consultation, the prescription, delivery, and any follow-up support, and those extras can easily add £30–£70 to what looked like a competitive monthly figure. A quick check worth doing: before you give any pharmacy your payment details, find the consultation fee, the prescription fee, and the delivery cost in addition to the pen price. That single habit takes under a minute and can save a significant surprise on checkout.

The subscription model used by some services is another thing to look at carefully. Auto-renewal means the next month's supply arrives and is charged before you've had a clinical re-review, which is not how responsible prescribing is supposed to work. Each supply of a POM should follow a fresh clinical assessment, not an automated repeat.

You can verify whether any online pharmacy is properly registered in about thirty seconds using the GPhC register at pharmacyregulation.org. Our own registration number is 9012878, look it up.

Step 3: where nume sits on price, and why

We're not the cheapest option on the market. That's deliberate. One price at nume covers the consultation, the prescription, the medicine itself, free next-working-day DPD delivery, and seven-day aftercare support, nothing hidden, nothing billed separately, no subscription locking you in. Every repeat order goes back in front of a real prescriber for clinical review before anything is dispensed.

Current pricing for each dose is on our Wegovy pricing page, and the full breakdown of what's included sits alongside it. We don't print per-pen prices in body copy because the right comparison isn't pen-versus-pen, it's what you're actually getting for your money across the whole service.

If you'd like to understand how the lowest-dose months are priced before committing, the cost of the starting dose is covered separately. And if you're weighing up the total monthly outlay rather than a single pen, the monthly cost overview pulls all the figures together in one place.

Step 4: why price is the wrong thing to optimise for with a prescription medicine

Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine. The MHRA's guidance makes clear that GLP-1 medicines are not assessed or licensed for quick or cosmetic weight loss, and that anyone supplying them must do so via a proper clinical pathway. Buying from an unverified seller (particularly one offering prices dramatically below market, or claiming to supply without a clinical assessment) carries real risk. The MHRA has warned publicly about counterfeit weight-loss pens found on the UK market; some fake pens seized contained insulin rather than semaglutide, with serious consequences for the people who used them.

Price matters, of course. But the useful question isn't which listing is cheapest, it's whether the service behind the listing is genuinely regulated, whether a real clinician is assessing your suitability, and whether the medicine is coming through the licensed UK supply chain. Suspect sellers can be reported directly via the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme. For everything our prescribers consider when reviewing a Wegovy consultation, the clinical team page sets it out clearly.
