Start journey Learn moreThe dose of Wegovy you take is decided by a prescriber, not by you, and it follows a fixed titration schedule set out in the medicine's licence. Treatment starts at 0.25 mg weekly and steps up roughly every four weeks, with 2.4 mg as the standard maintenance dose and 7.2 mg now approved as the highest available. That titration question is inseparable from the cost question, because different doses, providers and formats carry different price tags — and understanding how UK private pricing works helps you spot what a headline figure actually includes. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine; a GPhC-registered prescriber assesses whether it is clinically suitable for you before any treatment begins.

The most common misconception about Wegovy's cost in the UK is that there is a single, stable market price you can shop around for. There isn't. What you pay privately depends on your dose, your provider and (critically) what is bundled into that number. As widely reported in August 2025, Eli Lilly raised Mounjaro's UK list price substantially from September 2025, and the broader weight-management injection market has moved with it. If you want a detailed breakdown of what you can expect to pay, our page on Wegovy price covers the current range by dose and explains why those figures move. Typical private Wegovy prices since then range roughly £149 to £375 per month depending on dose and provider, though those figures are hedged because they shift.
Here is the complication: Wegovy is dose-escalating. You do not start on the maintenance dose. The first pen is 0.25 mg (a tolerability step, not the therapeutic level) and most people spend several months working through 0.5 mg, 1.0 mg and 1.7 mg before reaching 2.4 mg. The NHS patient guide to semaglutide explains each stage of that schedule. A quote for one dose at one point in time may not reflect what you will pay six months in. Budgeting across the titration curve matters more than finding the cheapest single-pen listing. For a closer look at how the dose schedule is structured, our guide to how much Wegovy to take walks through each step.
A monthly figure advertised by a provider may or may not include the clinical consultation before treatment starts, the prescription itself, delivery and any ongoing aftercare if you have questions mid-cycle. Some services charge consultation fees separately, which can run from £20 to over £100. Some charge for delivery. Some require a paid membership to access the lower advertised price. None of those additions are unreasonable (clinical oversight costs money to provide properly) but they make direct price comparisons unreliable unless you total everything.
The question worth asking of any provider is not just 'what does a pen cost?' but 'what happens if I have a side effect on day three, or if my next dose needs review before dispatch?' Semaglutide's most common effects are gastrointestinal, and most people have questions during titration. The NICE appraisal of semaglutide for weight management (TA875) emphasises that this medicine works best alongside structured support, not as a standalone prescription dispatched and forgotten.
What you eat alongside treatment matters too. Guidance on how much to eat on Wegovy is worth reading before your first pen arrives, as is staying on top of hydration: how much water to drink on Wegovy is a question prescribers get asked often.
We are not going to claim we are the cheapest option. We aren't, and that is deliberate. Our pricing includes the consultation, the prescription, the treatment, next-working-day DPD delivery and 7-day aftercare, one figure, nothing added at checkout. Current prices are shown on our treatment page; we don't print them here because the right figure for you depends on your dose, which is a clinical decision.
What that price buys, practically: your answers go to a named prescriber on the same day you submit them. If you are approved, your pen leaves our GPhC-registered pharmacy before the end of that working day, arriving the next morning in a plain box with DPD tracking on your phone. The pen is pre-filled; it needs to go straight in the fridge. If you have questions about what you're holding or how you are responding to it, aftercare is available seven days a week. There are no auto-renewals, every repeat is reviewed again. You can verify our pharmacy on the GPhC register (registration 9012878). Worth checking.
Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine. That legal status exists because semaglutide has real clinical effects, real contraindications and a titration schedule that requires medical judgement. The MHRA has issued repeated public warnings about fake weight-loss pens sold online, including cases where counterfeit products contained insulin rather than semaglutide. A price that looks far below the market range is not a bargain, it is a question about what is actually inside the pen and whether anyone assessed whether you should be taking it.
The right metric for any regulated medicine is safety, continuity of supply through the licensed UK chain and clinical oversight at every stage. For context on what weight loss to realistically expect over time, our page on how much weight to expect on semaglutide covers the clinical trial evidence without overpromising. And if you are weighing up Wegovy against other semaglutide presentations, the broader semaglutide dosing guide puts the options in context. The starting point for any of this is a clinical conversation, begin your free consultation and a prescriber will assess what suits you.
