Start journey Learn moreHow much Wegovy to take is decided by a prescriber, not by you or the packet alone. Treatment always begins at 0.25 mg once weekly and is increased in steps (roughly every four weeks) up to the 2.4 mg maintenance dose, or the newly approved 7.2 mg pen if that's clinically appropriate. The amount you're taking at any given stage also shapes what you'll pay privately, since each dose tier is priced separately. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine in the UK; a clinician assesses your full picture before any dose is set or changed. For a fuller look at the dosing schedule itself, the guide to how much Wegovy you should take covers the progression in more detail.

Wegovy comes in five dose strengths, 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1.0 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg weekly, with a 7.2 mg pen now also available following MHRA approval in April 2026. In the UK private market, each strength is a separate pen, and private providers typically price each tier differently. That matters practically: when a prescriber moves you from 0.5 mg to 1.0 mg, your monthly outgoing changes at the same time.
The starting 0.25 mg dose exists to let your body adjust, it's a tolerability step rather than the level where most of the weight-management effect is felt. Providers who quote a headline price are usually quoting the starter or a mid-range tier. The maintenance cost, paid for the longest stretch of treatment, is generally higher. Private Wegovy pricing by dose sets out the typical ranges in full.
Checking the dose on a quoted price takes about thirty seconds: if a website lists one price with no dose specified, it's worth scrolling to find out which pen that covers. A starter price and a maintenance price are not the same number.
Private Wegovy costs vary between providers, and it's rarely the pen price alone that tells the complete story. Some clinics charge a separate consultation fee before a prescription is written. Others add a prescription fee on top of the medicine itself. Delivery (sometimes tracked, sometimes not) may be billed separately, often per order rather than included. Aftercare, which matters considerably when you're on a titrating dose schedule, is sometimes time-limited or costs extra beyond the first contact.
None of that is a criticism of any particular provider. It is simply worth reading a full checkout before comparing. The NHS describes the licensed dose schedule for semaglutide clearly, and understanding what the medicine involves helps you ask the right questions of whoever is prescribing it. If you want to understand how much semaglutide you should be taking before your consultation, that overview is a useful reference point for the schedule, and our guide to how much semaglutide to take walks through the titration steps in practical detail.
Transfer patients and anyone requesting a dose increase through a private service should also expect a clinical review at that point, evidence of current treatment and weight progress is reasonable practice, and any pharmacy not asking for it is worth scrutinising.
Our pricing is deliberate and transparent. It includes your consultation, your prescription, the medicine, and free next-working-day delivery via DPD in plain, unbranded packaging. There are no add-on fees at the end and no subscription that auto-renews without you asking for it. Every repeat order goes back through a clinical review, a named GPhC-registered prescriber reads it, not an automated filter.
We're not the cheapest provider. That's a choice, not an oversight. Medically supervised titration, same-day clinical review, identity and weight verification, and seven-day aftercare cost something to deliver properly. We think those things are worth paying for when you're taking a prescription medicine that requires clinical oversight throughout. The about us page covers who we are and how the service is structured if you'd like to read more before starting.
If you'd like to explore the options, including oral semaglutide, our weight-loss treatment overview sets out what's available and what each one involves.
The MHRA has warned repeatedly about counterfeit weight-loss pens circulating online and via social media. Fake pens have contained insulin rather than semaglutide, and some people have been seriously harmed. In October 2025, the first illicit UK site manufacturing counterfeit tirzepatide pens was raided. The common thread in most of these cases is price: sellers offering prescription medicines without a clinical assessment, often at figures well below the legitimate market range.
Semaglutide is a prescription-only medicine under UK law. The only legal route to it is a valid prescription from a clinician who has assessed you. If a price looks significantly lower than the typical UK private range, or a listing offers the medicine without any consultation step, those are signals to stop and verify. Patients in Northern Ireland can also read about Wegovy price in Northern Ireland to understand what the legitimate private market looks like there. You can check whether any online pharmacy is properly registered in under a minute at the GPhC pharmacy register. Suspected counterfeit products can be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
For clinical detail on the semaglutide dose schedule, the NHS semaglutide medicines page covers the licensed titration pathway. Our injection dosing guide adds practical context alongside it. If you have questions before or after starting, our team is reachable through the contact page seven days a week. When you're ready to check your eligibility and speak to a prescriber, the free consultation is the place to start.
