How Much Weight Can Wegovy Help You Lose — and What Does It Actually Cost?

In clinical trials, Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4 mg) produced an average body-weight reduction of around 15% over 68 weeks when combined with lifestyle changes — and the newer 7.2 mg maintenance dose has shown results approaching 21% in trial data. Those are meaningful numbers. But before the question of how much weight Wegovy can help you lose makes practical sense, there is a more immediate one to answer: what does legitimate, clinically supervised access to Wegovy actually cost in the UK, and what should that price include? These are prescription-only medicines; a prescriber assesses your suitability before any treatment is dispensed. Understanding what drives the cost (and what a headline price might leave out) is the right place to start.

What the price of Wegovy in the UK actually covers, and what it sometimes doesn't

The real-world cost of Wegovy and why it varies so much

Private Wegovy pricing in the UK is not fixed. It moves with dose, provider and (since Eli Lilly's widely reported list-price revision in September 2025) with the broader market for GLP-1 medicines. Semaglutide's pricing has followed a similar upward trajectory. If you want to understand what Wegovy prices look like near you, it is worth knowing that typical private prices broadly range in the region of £149 to £375 per month depending on the dose you are on, though these figures shift and should be taken as indicative rather than definitive.

The dose matters more than most people realise. Wegovy's licensed titration schedule begins at 0.25 mg and works up over several months toward the 2.4 mg maintenance dose, and now, following MHRA approval in April 2026 of a dedicated single-dose pen, up to 7.2 mg for eligible patients. Patients specifically on the penultimate step can read about how much weight loss the 1.7 mg dose of Wegovy tends to deliver, which helps illustrate how results build as the titration schedule progresses. A provider quoting a starter-dose price is quoting the cheapest rung of a longer ladder.

That variation is worth pausing on. Not because the higher doses are unaffordable by definition, but because any cost comparison only makes sense when you are comparing equivalent stages of treatment. The full Wegovy price picture is more layered than a single monthly figure suggests.

What a headline price often leaves out

Private weight-loss treatment pricing is not always all-in. A figure quoted online may exclude the initial consultation fee, which some providers charge separately. It may exclude the prescription charge. Delivery (particularly tracked, temperature-appropriate courier delivery of a refrigerated medicine) is sometimes listed as an add-on. Follow-up clinical reviews before dose increases, or support if a dose change is clinically indicated, may carry their own cost at some clinics.

None of that is hidden to mislead; it is simply the way itemised pricing works. But it means a direct price comparison between providers requires checking what each number actually includes. Results evidence from the 2.4 mg maintenance dose trials assumes sustained treatment over many months. Dropping out because unexpected costs make continuation impractical undermines the clinical case for starting.

There is also the question of what happens when things need clinical attention. A provider with no aftercare pathway, or one that charges for clinical queries, is a different proposition from one where those conversations are already accounted for. Our approach to this is described plainly on our about page, read it if you want to understand how we are structured.

Where nume sits, and why we are not the cheapest option

We are going to be straightforward: cheapest is not a race we entered. One price covers the consultation, the prescription, the treatment, tracked next-working-day delivery and full aftercare. There are no separate fees for clinical review before a repeat order, no subscription you need to remember to cancel, no delivery charge. What you see on the treatment page is what you pay.

That means for some doses and some providers, a competitor will quote you less. We think the comparison changes when you factor in what that lower number includes, but we are not going to make that argument aggressively. You can read the detail of how our prescribers work, including the same-day clinical review process and our identity and weight verification steps, and decide whether the structure is worth it to you.

What arrives, practically, is a plain unbranded box via DPD, you get a tracking notification on your phone when it leaves us, and another when it is twenty minutes away. Inside is your Wegovy pen, stored correctly for the journey. That is the physical reality of what a legitimate supply chain looks like.

We do not run discount codes, promotional pricing or vouchers. Wegovy is a prescription medicine. Sellers offering it at prices well below market rates, particularly via social media or without any clinical assessment, are a recognised safety concern: the MHRA has issued clear guidance on reporting suspect sellers, and has conducted significant enforcement action against counterfeit weight-loss pens in the UK market.

Why 'cheapest' is the wrong question for a prescription medicine

The question of how much weight Wegovy can help you lose only has a meaningful answer in the context of genuine, sustained, clinically supervised treatment. The STEP 1 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine reported around 15% average weight loss at 68 weeks under closely monitored conditions, alongside lifestyle support. Understanding how much weight you can lose on the 0.5 mg dose of Wegovy helps illustrate why results at lower maintenance doses are proportionally smaller, and why early-phase doses produce less.

That context matters for cost evaluation too. The cheapest listing may be the lowest-dose pen with a consultation sold separately and no aftercare pathway. The right question is not which provider charges least but which provides the clinical infrastructure that makes a multi-month treatment course work safely. NICE's appraisal of semaglutide for weight management, TA875, notes the importance of structured support alongside treatment, that is not incidental to outcomes, it is part of the mechanism. A prescription medicine dispensed cheaply and in isolation is a different clinical product from the same molecule within a properly supervised programme.
