Step 1: Understand what a licensed semaglutide product looks like

There is no published clinical evidence that such a formulation is safe or effective at any dose for weight management.

Step 3: Know the actual safety implications

The MHRA has been explicit about the risks of unlicensed injectable and oral weight-loss products circulating outside the regulated supply chain. In 2025, enforcement teams seized approximately 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines worth around £45 million, and uncovered the first known UK site manufacturing counterfeit tirzepatide pens. The same risks apply to semaglutide products: unknown concentration, contamination, and no prescriber oversight mean no one has assessed whether the product is appropriate for you, or whether it interacts with other medicines you take. For a prescription-only medicine, that clinical assessment isn't a bureaucratic hurdle, it's the mechanism that keeps the dose safe.
