Does Wegovy list dental problems as a recognised side effect?

When should dental symptoms prompt you to get medical help?

Most oral changes during Wegovy treatment are gradual and manageable with good hygiene and hydration. Some, though, need a clinician's attention promptly.

Seek help from your GP or prescriber quickly if you experience severe or persistent stomach pain that radiates to the back, with or without vomiting, the MHRA issued a Yellow Card Drug Safety Update in January 2026 highlighting acute pancreatitis as a known, infrequent but serious risk with GLP-1 medicines; this can present with GI symptoms that might initially be mistaken for a dental or stomach problem. None of this is cause for alarm, but a few straightforward habits make a real difference. Drink water regularly throughout the day, particularly if your appetite and overall intake have dropped. After any episode of vomiting, rinse your mouth with plain water rather than brushing immediately, brushing softened enamel straight after acid exposure can accelerate erosion. Wait at least 30 minutes before reaching for the toothbrush.

Tell your dentist that you are on a GLP-1 medicine at your next appointment. They can check for early erosion signs and may recommend fluoride treatments or a different toothpaste if your enamel shows thinning.
