Wegovy and Pain Under the Ribs: What the Evidence Says

Not all sub-costal discomfort on Wegovy carries the same weight. Here is a plain distinction based on the clinical guidance available.

Seek urgent medical help if: the pain is severe and came on suddenly; it is persistent (not coming and going in waves that pass); it radiates to the back or right shoulder; it is accompanied by fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes), dark urine, or vomiting you cannot manage. These features can point to acute pancreatitis, a gallstone blocking the bile duct, or acute cholecystitis, all of which need assessment the same day, not a call to a pharmacy tomorrow.

Symptoms that often settle on their own include a dull ache or mild cramping that eases within an hour or two, bloating and pressure that pass after a bowel movement or passing wind, and mild nausea-adjacent discomfort after eating.
