Start journey Learn moreThe Wegovy pill — oral semaglutide, approved by the MHRA on 11 June 2026 as the UK's first oral GLP-1 medicine licensed for weight management — is available only on a private prescription for now, since no NHS funding route yet exists. What you pay covers far more than the tablets themselves: a legitimate price includes the clinical assessment, the prescription, and ongoing support. Like any prescription-only medicine, cost is only part of the picture; the clinical process behind it matters just as much. Learn how oral semaglutide works before comparing numbers.

Because the MHRA only approved oral semaglutide for weight management in June 2026, the private market is still settling. There is no established NHS list price for this indication, and providers are pricing it differently. What is consistent across any legitimate route is that you cannot obtain it without a prescriber's assessment: this is a prescription-only medicine, and cost comparisons that ignore the clinical layer are incomplete by definition.
Wegovy pill cost UK figures you see quoted vary partly because of where a provider sits in the supply chain, and partly because headline prices do not always include everything. The MHRA's approval covers adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 29.9 alongside a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. Explore the treatment options available through nume to see how the oral tablet sits alongside the injection.
At nume, the price you see is the price you pay. Consultation, prescription, the medicine itself, and next-working-day delivery are all in one figure. If you want to understand what wegovy pills cost and how that figure is made up, we'd rather you see the live number than a stale one, which is why we don't print per-tablet prices in editorial copy and keep current treatment pricing on the treatment page.
A common pattern in online weight-loss pricing: the medicine costs X, but a consultation costs extra, the prescription attracts a separate fee, and delivery is added at checkout. Sometimes aftercare (the clinical support you need when titrating from 1.5mg through to 25mg) isn't mentioned at all until you need it. These aren't small items. A consultation at some services runs to tens of pounds on its own, before the prescription is written.
The titration schedule for the Wegovy pill is graduated: you start on 1.5mg, step through 4mg and 9mg, and reach the 25mg maintenance dose with at least a month at each level. That means multiple clinical check-ins over several months. If those reviews aren't included in what you're paying, or if they're listed separately as "dose-review fees", you can find out more about how the wegovy pill price is structured and what to ask before committing to a provider.
There is also the question of what happens if you have a reaction, a question at 8pm on a Sunday, or need a dose-change conversation. Aftercare isn't an add-on at a service built around safety, it's part of the prescription. Worth checking whether the provider you're looking at treats it that way.
People sometimes assume oral semaglutide will be priced below the injection form. That isn't necessarily true. Both forms require clinical assessment, a prescription, and ongoing clinical oversight. The tablet's manufacturing involves an absorption enhancer called SNAC, which adds complexity. Supply at launch is limited, which tends to keep prices firm.
The trial evidence for the Wegovy pill (the OASIS 4 study, a phase 3 trial of 307 adults) showed an average weight reduction of around 13.6% over 64 weeks against placebo, rising to roughly 17% among participants who stayed fully adherent to treatment throughout. The MHRA approved it on the strength of that data. For context, the 2.4mg weekly injection produced around 15% average loss in the STEP 1 trial. If understanding what wegovy in pill form costs compared with the injection is useful for your decision, that page breaks it down in more detail.
Whether the tablet or the injection is clinically right for you is a different question from which costs less. The oral form suits people who prefer not to inject; the injection may suit different clinical profiles. A prescriber settles that in consultation, not a price chart. If you'd like to understand the clinical team who make those calls at nume, meet our lead prescriber.
The MHRA has issued clear warnings about fake GLP-1 pens sold online, and enforcement in 2025 included the seizure of approximately 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines worth around £45 million. Counterfeit product has been found containing insulin rather than the labelled medicine, a serious, potentially life-threatening risk. The Wegovy pill, being oral, carries its own version of this danger: unverified tablet sources have no guaranteed composition.
The only safe check is simple: any pharmacy dispensing this medicine must be registered with the GPhC. You can verify any online pharmacy directly at the GPhC register, our registration number is 9012878. A seller offering prescription medicines without requiring a clinical assessment is a red flag, not a bargain. See our frequently asked questions for more on how to assess a provider safely.
At nume, we are not trying to be the cheapest option on the market. That's a deliberate position. One transparent price (no subscriptions, no surprise fees, no auto-renewals) buys you a same-day clinical review by a GPhC-registered prescriber, genuine UK supply chain, and someone to call on a Tuesday evening if something doesn't feel right. Order before 12pm on a weekday and, once clinically approved, your treatment leaves the same day. Read more about what the oral Wegovy cost covers, then check eligibility through a free consultation if you're ready.
