Start journey Learn moreWeight loss injection suppliers in the UK are not all the same, and the differences go well beyond price. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide) are prescription-only medicines; in law, any supplier dispensing them must hold a valid GPhC pharmacy registration and issue medicines only after a licensed prescriber has assessed you individually. A supplier that skips any part of that chain isn't cutting corners — it's breaking the law. Here is how to tell a legitimate route from one that puts your health at risk.

Before anything else, go to the GPhC register at pharmacyregulation.org/registers and search the supplier's name or premises registration number. This takes about 90 seconds. If the pharmacy is not listed, it cannot legally dispense prescription medicines to UK patients. That single check filters out the majority of fraudulent online sellers. A registered pharmacy will have its GPhC number displayed on its website, at nume, ours is 9012878, and you can look it up directly.
It is also worth confirming that the site carries the MHRA's internet pharmacy logo, which links back to the register entry. Some sellers reproduce the logo as an image with no live link; clicking it tells you quickly whether it is genuine.
Once you have confirmed registration, look for clear information about who the prescriber is. A prescription for a POM must be issued by a licensed prescriber: a doctor, nurse or pharmacist independent prescriber who has reviewed your medical history. If a site offers to send Mounjaro or Wegovy without that step, it is operating outside UK law. The NHS patient information for tirzepatide makes clear that clinical assessment is a legal requirement, not a formality.
Eli Lilly manufactures Mounjaro and Novo Nordisk manufactures Wegovy. Both companies supply through authorised UK wholesalers, who in turn supply to GPhC-registered pharmacies. A legitimate supplier can trace every pen back through that chain. When a pharmacy buys through the grey market (parallel imports from other countries, unverified resellers, social-media wholesalers) that traceability breaks, and so does the cold-chain guarantee that keeps the medicine stable.
Mounjaro KwikPens and Wegovy pens must be refrigerated at 2–8°C throughout storage. A supplier that does not describe proper temperature-controlled dispatch is telling you something important about how the medicine has been handled. Storage standards, cold-chain logistics and licensed sourcing are not marketing language; they are the practical difference between a medicine that works and one that does not, or worse.
Patients who are already on treatment and considering a different supplier can read about what ongoing clinical support should look like to get a sense of what a legitimate service includes beyond the first pen.
The MHRA has warned repeatedly about counterfeit weight-loss pens sold via social media and unregistered online sellers. In October 2025, the agency raided the first illicit UK manufacturing site producing fake tirzepatide pens (in Northampton) and by that point had already seized around 20 million doses of illegally traded medicines. Some fake pens seized earlier in the investigation contained insulin rather than the labelled product, causing hospitalisations.
Red flags to look for: prices far below current market rates (Eli Lilly's UK list price for Mounjaro's highest dose rose to around £330 per pen from September 2025); offers of these medicines without any clinical consultation; discount codes or promotional deals attached to prescription medicines; no GPhC number on the site; no named prescriber; no aftercare contact. You can report any suspect seller directly via the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme, which also accepts reports of suspected counterfeit products.
If you are weighing up what a compliant service costs versus an unusually cheap offer, our weight loss injection cost breakdown explains what a legitimate all-in price actually covers, including the clinical oversight that cheaper alternatives routinely skip.
A genuine supplier is really a clinical service that happens to dispense medicines. That means the assessment comes first, medical history, BMI, weight-related conditions, contraindications, current medications. A prescriber reviews all of it. At nume, a GPhC-registered independent prescriber reads every consultation personally on the day it arrives; if you submit before noon on a working day, your order is reviewed and, if clinically suitable, dispatched that afternoon. Your pen arrives with a DPD tracking notification the next morning, in plain packaging.
Ongoing reviews matter too. Titration from the 2.5mg Mounjaro starter dose upward requires a prescriber to assess your response and any side effects at each stage, a box-shifting operation with no clinical oversight cannot do that safely. Before starting any treatment, checking your eligibility properly is worth the ten minutes; our overview of how a weight loss injection works covers who the licensed criteria cover. If you have specific questions for the clinical team, the contact page is the quickest route. Patients in the north-west can also find details about accessing weight loss injections in St Helens through our service, and those looking to commit to a longer course can explore the option to order a three-month supply of weight loss injections once their prescriber confirms it is appropriate. When you are ready to begin, you can speak to our prescribers through a free consultation, and our guide to weight loss injections is a good starting point if you want to understand all the available options before you do.
