Start journey Learn moreIn clinical trials, adults taking semaglutide 2.4mg (Wegovy) lost an average of around 15% of their body weight over 68 weeks, with those who adhered fully to the higher 7.2mg dose reporting roughly 20.7% average loss — figures published by the NHS and backed by the STEP 1 trial in the New England Journal of Medicine. How much you might lose on Wegovy depends on where you start, how your body responds, and the lifestyle changes you make alongside it. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine; a GPhC-registered prescriber assesses whether it is clinically appropriate for you before any treatment begins.

You've probably come across a headline (15%, or maybe the newer 20% figure) and you're trying to work out whether those numbers are realistic for someone in your position. It's a fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a page of small print.
The 15% average comes from the STEP 1 trial: 68 weeks, 2.4mg semaglutide, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. That is an average across a large clinical population. Some participants lost considerably more; others lost less. The newer 7.2mg maintenance dose, approved by the MHRA in April 2026, produced average losses closer to 20.7% in trials, narrowing the gap with tirzepatide's results. If you want to explore how much weight you can lose on 2.4mg Wegovy, including what the data says about the maintenance phase specifically, our detailed breakdown covers the evidence in full. If you're curious about how much you can lose in a month on Wegovy, that page breaks down the pace of progress across the treatment timeline. For a broader view of what to expect across the full course of treatment, our guide on overall Wegovy weight-loss outcomes sets out the clinical picture alongside our detailed look at Wegovy weight-loss outcomes, which breaks the evidence down further.
The honest answer is that trials give you a population average, not a personal forecast. Weight loss on Wegovy is shaped by starting BMI, metabolic factors, how well GI side effects are tolerated during dose escalation, and what changes you make to food and movement. A prescriber can give you a more grounded sense of what to expect once they have seen your full clinical picture. That conversation is what the consultation is for.
Since Eli Lilly raised Mounjaro's UK list price in September 2025, the private GLP-1 market has repriced broadly. Wegovy costs have moved in parallel: typical private prices across providers range roughly £149–£375 per month depending on dose and supplier, based on widely reported market figures. That range is real, and it matters, but it doesn't tell the whole story.
Headline prices sometimes cover the pen only. Consultation fees, prescription charges, clinical monitoring, dose-review support and delivery can all sit outside that number, billed separately or bundled into a subscription you might not clock until the second month. Our Wegovy pricing page walks through what tends to be included and excluded across the private market, so you can compare like with like rather than lowest number with lowest number.
One practical note: if you're planning around payday, or want treatment to land before a holiday, the order cut-off is 12pm Monday to Friday for same-day dispatch. Worth timing your consultation accordingly.
At nume, one price covers everything: the consultation, the prescription, the treatment, and free next-working-day tracked delivery. There are no hidden line items. You can read about how our pharmacy operates and verify our GPhC registration (premises number 9012878) at the GPhC register before you start.
Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine. The clinical assessment that sits behind a legitimate private prescription is not a formality, it is the mechanism that catches contraindications, flags interactions with other medicines, and ensures the dose you receive is appropriate for your circumstances. When that step is skimped or bypassed, you are not saving money on the same thing; you are buying a different, riskier thing.
The MHRA has warned repeatedly about fake weight-loss pens sold online, some of which have contained insulin rather than semaglutide. Large seizures of counterfeit stock were made throughout 2025. The red flags are consistent: prices far below market rate, sellers operating without any verifiable pharmacy registration, and offers that require no clinical assessment at all. You can report suspect sellers at the MHRA's Yellow Card portal.
For a prescription medicine dispensed through a regulated supply chain with a prescriber reviewing your file, price is not the most useful filter. The better questions are: is this pharmacy on the GPhC register? Is a real clinician reviewing my consultation? What happens if I have a problem at the weekend? Our FAQs cover those questions in plain terms. We are not the cheapest option available (that is a deliberate choice, not an oversight) and a single transparent price that covers clinical care from start to finish is what we offer instead.
If you'd like to understand how much weight you can lose on the 0.5mg starting dose of Wegovy, including how progress typically tracks in those early weeks, that page goes into more detail.
