Mounjaro®

Start journey Learn moreMounjaro (tirzepatide) lowers blood glucose by activating both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, reducing appetite, slowing gastric emptying, and supporting insulin release. In clinical trials it produced significant HbA1c reductions in adults with type 2 diabetes, and meaningful weight loss in people treated for obesity. As a prescription-only medicine, a prescriber assesses whether it is right for you — and the private cost of that treatment varies more than most people realise. Understanding what drives the price, and what any given quote actually covers, matters as much as the headline figure.

Imagine this: you search, you find a figure, it looks reasonable. But when you read the small print (or when there is no small print) you realise the quote is for the medicine alone. The consultation fee is separate. The prescription charge is separate. Delivery costs extra. And when your dose increases, so does the price, with no mention of whether that review is included or costs again.
That pattern is common across private weight-loss treatment in the UK. Eli Lilly raised the list price of Mounjaro significantly from 1 September 2025 (the highest-dose pen moved from around £122 to around £330 at list price) and private providers typically charge between roughly £149 and £375 per month depending on the dose and what is bundled in, as widely reported since that change. Those figures are market context, not a ceiling or a floor. What they do not tell you is whether a prescriber reviewed your case, whether delivery is included, or whether anyone will pick up if something feels wrong at week three. Those things have value; they also have cost. A quote that skips them has skipped the most important parts. If you are looking for ways to access treatment at a lower Mounjaro price, it is worth understanding exactly what is and is not included before assuming a cheaper quote represents a genuine saving. You can explore how private Mounjaro costs are structured across doses at our full cost guide.
Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine. The NICE technology appraisal TA1026 sets the clinical basis for its use, and any legitimate private route has to include a genuine prescribing assessment. If a price doesn't reflect that, ask why.
Tirzepatide's effect on blood glucose is real and clinically documented, the SURMOUNT and SURPASS trial programmes, involving thousands of adults across both weight management and type 2 diabetes indications, showed consistent HbA1c reductions alongside weight loss, with greater effects at higher doses. The NHS medicines page for tirzepatide explains the mechanism clearly: it works on two gut-hormone pathways simultaneously, which is why its metabolic effects are broader than older single-pathway GLP-1 medicines.
Practically, that means treatment almost always starts at 2.5mg, a tolerability stage, giving your body four weeks to adjust before anything increases. The therapeutic work happens at higher strengths, typically 5mg and above, titrated by your prescriber in four-week steps up to a maximum of 15mg. For cost purposes, that trajectory matters: the 2.5mg and 5mg pens cost less than the 10mg or 15mg pens. If a quote doesn't mention this, you may be looking at a starter-dose price that will change substantially within a couple of months. Our guide to what 5mg Mounjaro costs breaks down that step specifically, and how far the dose can increase is worth reading before you commit to a provider.
Keep your pen in the fridge door between uses, Mounjaro requires refrigerated storage at 2–8°C, and the Patient Information Leaflet sets the exact window if you need to take it out briefly. That routine detail matters because supply-chain integrity starts before the pen reaches you.
We are not the cheapest option for Mounjaro. That is a deliberate decision, not an oversight. One price at nume covers the consultation, the clinical review by a real prescriber, the prescription, the medicine, next-working-day tracked delivery, and aftercare access seven days a week. No subscription, no automatic renewal, no fee that surfaces at step four of the checkout.
A named prescriber at our GPhC-registered pharmacy (registration number 9012878, verifiable at the GPhC register) reads every consultation personally. The same scrutiny applies at every repeat: if your dose is increasing, a prescriber reviews the evidence before anything ships. That process exists because a prescription-only medicine dispensed carelessly is not a bargain, it is a risk.
If you have been offered a discount code or a price that seems significantly below the market range, that warrants caution. The MHRA has warned publicly about counterfeit GLP-1 pens sold through unverified channels; some fake pens have contained insulin rather than tirzepatide. Suspect sellers can be reported at the MHRA Yellow Card portal. We don't run discount codes, and if you've landed on a page promising one, our guide on Mounjaro voucher codes explains what to look out for. Current treatment pricing is shown on our treatments page.
For a prescription medicine that affects blood glucose, appetite regulation, and body weight, the cheapest listing answers the wrong question. A small monthly saving means little if the clinical oversight is thin, if the supply chain is unverified, or if there is nobody to call when a side effect feels persistent. The NICE recommendations for tirzepatide exist precisely because the evidence base and the clinical context both matter, and a legitimate provider reflects that in how they work, not just what they charge.
Price is worth understanding, and we think you deserve a straight answer on it. But safety, genuine prescription review, and a supply chain you can trace are what keep the medicine working as it should. Mounjaro pricing in the UK and NHS access routes are both worth reading if you want the full picture before you decide anything.
