The Wegovy pill — oral semaglutide for weight management — was approved by the MHRA on 11 June 2026, making it the first oral GLP-1 medicine licensed for weight loss in the UK. Private pricing for the tablet is still settling across providers, but as with the injection, any legitimate price you see should include a prescription following a full clinical assessment, not just the medicine. Like all GLP-1 weight-loss treatments, oral semaglutide is a prescription-only medicine: a prescriber decides suitability, and no one can lawfully supply it without one. If you're comparing figures online, the gap between a headline price and what you'll actually pay often comes down to what the headline leaves out.

What the price of the Wegovy pill actually tells you, and what it doesn't

The misconception worth clearing up first: a low headline price usually isn't the full price

When a new medicine launches, the first prices people see tend to be stripped-down figures, the tablet alone, before anything else is counted. It's an easy assumption to make: you see a monthly cost, assume it covers everything, and use it to compare. In reality, many listed prices for prescription treatments don't include the consultation that legally has to happen first, the prescription fee itself, delivery, or any ongoing clinical support if something changes. By the time those are added, the total can look quite different from what was advertised.

Oral semaglutide is no exception. It follows the same dosing escalation as other GLP-1 treatments (starting at 1.5mg and titrating through 4mg and 9mg up to the 25mg maintenance dose, with at least a month at each level) so ongoing prescriber involvement isn't optional. It's built into how the medicine works. A price that doesn't include that involvement isn't a saving; it's just a cost that's been moved somewhere else. If you're trying to work out how much semaglutide pills actually cost once all the components are counted, it's worth reading that through before making any comparison. You can also read more about how semaglutide tablets work and what the full titration schedule involves before making any comparison.

The MHRA's approval was based on the OASIS 4 phase 3 trial, which found an average weight reduction of around 13.6% over 64 weeks versus 2.4% for placebo, and around 17% among participants who adhered fully to treatment. Those are meaningful results, and they were achieved alongside lifestyle support, not instead of it.

Why UK private pricing for the Wegovy pill is still taking shape

The tablet only received UK approval in June 2026 (the UK was the first country in Europe to licence it) so private market pricing has not yet stabilised the way Wegovy injection prices have over two or three years in circulation. For context on the injectable form, published Wegovy pill pricing has generally tracked a similar per-month range to the injection at equivalent titration stages, though this can shift as supply finds its level.

What is clear is that the tablet sits within the same regulatory framework as the injection: prescription-only, requiring a clinical assessment, and subject to the same MHRA oversight. It is not available on the NHS yet (a NICE appraisal would need to happen first) so for now this is a private prescription route only. Anyone pricing this medicine for you is pricing a regulated clinical service, not a retail product. If you want to understand what goes into the cost of Wegovy in pill form, including why figures vary between providers, that context is still emerging and quotes today may look different in six months.

One practical note: the Wegovy tablet has no refrigeration requirement. That's genuinely different from the injection, which needs to be kept at 2–8°C. For people who travel regularly or find cold-chain storage inconvenient, it matters, and it's a factor worth including in any honest cost comparison, not just the per-month figure.

What you get for a single transparent price at nume

We're not trying to be the least expensive option. That's a deliberate position, not an oversight. The single price at nume covers your consultation, the prescription, the medicine, and free next-working-day delivery by DPD, tracked, discreet, no additional charge at any point. Aftercare is included too: seven days a week, with a prescriber re-review before any repeat is issued. There are no subscriptions and no auto-renewals. Every order is a fresh clinical decision.

The consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber, not an automated system. Identity is verified with photo ID; weight is confirmed on a live video call. That level of process exists because oral semaglutide is a prescription medicine with a real escalation schedule, and the prescriber needs to be confident that each step is right for you before it happens.

Current treatment pricing is shown on the weight-loss treatments page, we don't put per-pen or per-month medicine figures in body copy, because prices move and we'd rather you see a live, accurate figure than one that was correct when this page was written. If you're researching what the Wegovy pill costs through a legitimate UK provider, that page reflects current figures rather than estimates from when copy was last updated. You can also browse the full range of weight-loss treatment options if you want to compare what's available before deciding.

Price is the wrong question to ask first about a prescription medicine

A small saving per month doesn't mean much if the supply chain isn't legitimate. The MHRA has repeatedly warned that GLP-1 medicines are among the most counterfeited in the UK, fake pens have contained insulin, causing serious harm. Tablets are a newer form, but the same risk applies to any unverified seller offering prescription medicines at unusually low prices or without a clinical assessment. It's also worth understanding how the cost of Wegovy pills is structured across a full titration course, since a low entry price at the starting dose can look very different by the time you reach maintenance.

Before buying from any online pharmacy, check that it appears on the GPhC register at pharmacyregulation.org/registers. A legitimate pharmacy will also require a prescription. If a price looks strikingly low, or a seller is offering the medicine without any clinical step, that's a red flag worth taking seriously. Report suspect sellers via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

For a prescription medicine at the start of a months-long titration journey, the right question isn't who is cheapest. It's who will still be reviewing your care in month four. Our FAQs cover common questions about the process, and you can reach the team directly through our contact page if something specific isn't answered there.
