Each Wegovy pen contains four doses of semaglutide, one for each week of the month. That single fact shapes almost everything about how private treatment is priced in the UK — because providers sell by the pen, and the pen covers roughly four weeks. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine; a prescriber assesses your suitability before any treatment begins, and the dose you receive is determined clinically, not by which pack you pick from a shelf. The NHS semaglutide medicines page sets out the full prescribing context, and it's worth reading before you compare prices anywhere.

How the four-dose pen structure feeds into UK private pricing, and what to look for

Step 1: understand what you're actually buying, four doses, one pen

Wegovy is supplied as a pre-filled injection pen. Each pen holds four weekly doses of semaglutide, so one pen equals roughly one month of treatment. That's the unit the whole UK private market prices around. When you see a monthly cost quoted anywhere, it almost always refers to the cost of that single pen, which is why comparing prices without knowing what's bundled into them is harder than it looks.

The dose loaded into your pen changes as you progress through the prescribing schedule. Treatment opens at 0.25mg weekly, stepping up through 0.5mg, 1.0mg and 1.7mg before reaching the 2.4mg maintenance dose, with a maximum of 7.2mg now approved for some patients. Each rung of that ladder is its own pen strength, and different strengths carry different list prices. A pen at 0.25mg costs less than one at 2.4mg, so the monthly figure you pay is not fixed across your treatment. If you're curious about how many doses each Wegovy pen contains and how that maps to your treatment schedule, our dedicated guide explains the breakdown in full. If you want to understand how many pens a full course typically involves, our guide on Wegovy pens per month maps that out in detail.

One thing worth knowing: Eli Lilly's September 2025 list-price change prompted a ripple across the whole injectable weight-loss market, and Wegovy pricing shifted in its wake. Any figures you saw quoted before late 2025 may no longer reflect current private costs.

Step 2: check what a headline price actually includes

A quoted monthly price for Wegovy can mean very different things depending on the provider. Some figures include clinical consultation; others charge this separately, sometimes £30–£50 per session. Prescription fees, delivery charges and aftercare calls are similarly variable, included in full at some services, itemised as extras at others.

Since September 2025, Lilly's UK list price increases pushed higher-dose pens toward the upper end of the market; if you want a clearer sense of what a semaglutide pen actually costs at each dose strength, that page breaks down current private market figures by pen type. For a factual map of where Wegovy sits in that range today, the Wegovy price page covers current market context in plain terms.

The NICE appraisal of semaglutide (TA875) is worth reading if you want to understand the evidence base behind the treatment, it also clarifies why the medicine is restricted to weight management services on the NHS, which has a direct bearing on why most people are buying privately in the first place.

Step 3: what nume includes, and why we're not competing on price

At nume, one price covers the clinical consultation, the prescription, the medicine itself, next-working-day DPD delivery and 7-day aftercare. There's no subscription nudging you into a next box before you've spoken to a prescriber, and no auto-renewal. Every repeat order is reviewed clinically before it goes out.

We are not the cheapest option you'll find. That's a deliberate choice. Running identity verification, live weight checks on video, Summary Care Record reviews and prescriber oversight on every single order costs more than a checkout-and-ship model, and we think that's the right trade-off for a prescription medicine. If payday timing matters to you, or you're planning ahead before a holiday, our 12pm cut-off for same-day dispatch is worth knowing. Order on a Monday before noon and your pen arrives Tuesday; order Friday before noon and it's with you the following Monday.

For a fuller picture of how the all-in price compares to what competitors itemise separately, our guide on where to purchase Wegovy in the UK is honest about the trade-offs. If you've also wondered about how many ml each Wegovy pen contains and what that means in practice, that page explains the volume clearly. And if you want to understand the per-week semaglutide dose you'd actually be taking, that page covers the clinical schedule in plain terms.

Step 4: why the lowest price is the wrong question for a prescription medicine

Semaglutide is a prescription-only medicine. The cheapest listing online is not automatically from a GPhC-registered UK pharmacy, and a pen sourced without a genuine prescription and a clinical assessment has not been verified as genuine, correctly stored or appropriate for you. The MHRA has seized counterfeit weight-loss pens in large quantities and traced some to unlicensed manufacturing sites in the UK; you can verify any online pharmacy on the GPhC register before you hand over payment details. Sellers offering these medicines without a genuine clinical process, or attaching discount codes to prescription treatments, are a red flag, not a bargain.

Price is a reasonable thing to ask about. It's just not the primary filter for a medicine that requires clinical oversight. The right question is whether the service includes a real prescriber, a verified supply chain, and aftercare when you need it. Our full Wegovy information page covers the treatment from evidence to eligibility if you'd like to read more before consulting.
