Wegovy vs Mounjaro prices: what the numbers really mean

You've found two prices, and they look almost the same. Here's why that can be misleading.

A question our prescribers hear most weeks goes roughly like this: "I've seen Mounjaro for X and Wegovy for X, they're similar, so does it matter where I go?" It's a fair question, and the short answer is that the headline figure tells you very little on its own.

Both tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and semaglutide (Wegovy) are Prescription-Only Medicines under UK law. Any legitimate private provider must carry out a clinical assessment before issuing a prescription, that assessment costs money to run properly. Some providers bundle it into the price you see; others list just the medicine and add consultation fees, prescription charges and delivery costs at checkout. What headline prices often leave out, and why it compounds

Strip away the medicine itself and there's a list of things a legitimate private weight-loss service needs to provide: an initial consultation with a qualified prescriber, the prescription document, clinical identity and weight verification, GP notification where appropriate, tracked and appropriately temperature-controlled delivery, and someone to call or message if something feels wrong after your first injection.

The MHRA has been unambiguous about this.
