Wegovy vs Mounjaro prices: what the numbers really mean

Free clinical consultation (assessed the same day by a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber, not automated software
Prescription included) no separate fee added at checkout
Free next-working-day tracked delivery via DPD, in plain unbranded packaging, once approved
Priority aftercare seven days a week, plus clinical review before every repeat order — no subscription, no auto-renewal

When you're comparing Wegovy vs Mounjaro prices, the honest starting point is this: both are prescription-only medicines, and in the UK both require a clinical assessment before a prescriber can issue them. Private costs vary by dose, provider and what's actually included in the price. Since Eli Lilly revised Mounjaro's list price in September 2025, typical private monthly costs across providers range from roughly £149 to £375 depending on the dose — figures widely reported at the time of the change. Wegovy sits in a broadly similar range for comparable monthly supply. Neither is cheap. But the more useful question isn't which pen has the lower headline figure; it's what that figure actually covers.

Breaking down the real cost of Wegovy and Mounjaro in the UK

You've found two prices, and they look almost the same. Here's why that can be misleading.

A question our prescribers hear most weeks goes roughly like this: "I've seen Mounjaro for X and Wegovy for X, they're similar, so does it matter where I go?" It's a fair question, and the short answer is that the headline figure tells you very little on its own.

Both tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and semaglutide (Wegovy) are Prescription-Only Medicines under UK law. Any legitimate private provider must carry out a clinical assessment before issuing a prescription, that assessment costs money to run properly. Some providers bundle it into the price you see; others list just the medicine and add consultation fees, prescription charges and delivery costs at checkout. A side-by-side look at Wegovy and Mounjaro monthly costs can help you read those quotes more carefully.

The dose also matters significantly. Mounjaro runs from 2.5 mg up to 15 mg, with the starting pen priced substantially lower than the higher maintenance doses. Wegovy follows a similar pattern from 0.25 mg through to 2.4 mg, with a 7.2 mg option now MHRA-approved as well. A provider quoting "from £X" is almost always showing the starter dose, the dose your prescriber may keep you on for only four weeks. Comparing Mounjaro and Wegovy costs by dose gives a clearer picture of what ongoing treatment actually runs to.

NICE's appraisal of tirzepatide, published in December 2024 and updated in 2025, notes that weight-loss outcomes with Mounjaro at higher doses were clinically meaningful, but those are the doses that carry the higher price tags. If you want to understand how those higher-dose costs stack up against a comparable injectable, our page covering how Mounjaro and Ozempic compare on price is worth reading before you make any assumptions. Factor that into any comparison.

What headline prices often leave out, and why it compounds

Strip away the medicine itself and there's a list of things a legitimate private weight-loss service needs to provide: an initial consultation with a qualified prescriber, the prescription document, clinical identity and weight verification, GP notification where appropriate, tracked and appropriately temperature-controlled delivery, and someone to call or message if something feels wrong after your first injection.

Providers handle these differently. Some charge for the consultation separately. Some offer no aftercare past the point of dispatch. Delivery is occasionally free, occasionally not, and occasionally a subscription that locks you into monthly orders regardless of your clinical progress. None of this appears in a four-digit headline figure.

For a medicine like Wegovy or Mounjaro, aftercare isn't optional in any serious sense. The NHS patient information for tirzepatide outlines a number of situations where you'd want to speak to a healthcare professional quickly, gastrointestinal symptoms that don't settle, signs of pancreatitis, unexpected reactions. If your provider's answer to those situations is an email form with a 48-hour response window, that's a cost you've already paid and didn't know about.

The detailed breakdown of Wegovy prices compared to Mounjaro on a separate page unpacks this further, including what each medicine's licensed schedule means for your monthly outlay over a full treatment course.

How nume prices these treatments, and why we're not entering the cheapest race

One transparent price. That's the structure. At nume, what you pay covers the clinical consultation, the prescription, the medicine, and free next-working-day DPD delivery, tracked, plain packaging, no branding on the box. Aftercare is available seven days a week. Every repeat order gets a fresh clinical review before anything is dispatched. There is no subscription. Nothing auto-renews.

We're not the cheapest option and we don't try to be. What that buys you is a service built around clinical rigour rather than volume. A named prescriber (not a decision algorithm) reads your consultation the same day. Our clinical team reviews dose increases and re-assessments personally. The about us page explains how our GPhC-registered pharmacy (registration number 9012878, verifiable at the GPhC register) operates within the licensed UK supply chain.

Current treatment pricing is shown on the weight-loss treatments page, alongside the consultation process. We don't print per-pen prices in body copy, because a number without clinical context answers the wrong question.

Price is the wrong measure for a prescription medicine

The MHRA has been unambiguous about this. Following seizures of around 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines (some containing insulin, not the medicine on the label) the regulator has warned repeatedly that sellers offering these products without a prescription, through social media or at prices well below the market, represent a serious safety risk. Report anything suspicious through the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme.

Verify any online pharmacy you're considering on the GPhC register before handing over payment details. A legitimate provider will have a GPhC premises registration you can look up in seconds. If you can't find it, stop there.

The right question when comparing Wegovy and Mounjaro prices isn't which number is smaller. It's whether the provider behind the price is running a clinical service or a fulfilment operation, and if you want to go deeper on that question, our pages covering Mounjaro vs Wegovy price in the UK and how Wegovy and Mounjaro compare overall set out the detail in full. Our FAQs cover common questions about how our process works if you'd like more detail before starting.
