Start journey Learn moreIn the UK, Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine — you cannot order it legally without a prescription issued after a proper clinical assessment. The only safe routes are an NHS pathway or a GPhC-registered private online pharmacy with a licensed prescriber. Because this is a prescription-only medicine, a clinician decides whether it is right for you before any order is placed. If you have been searching for where to buy Mounjaro and wondering why it is not simply available to add to a basket, that is the reason: the law requires clinical oversight, and genuine suppliers follow it.

Many people arrive at this search having seen social-media ads or marketplace listings promising quick, easy access. Here is the plain truth: those listings are almost always illegal, and in some cases the pens they send are counterfeit. The MHRA has seized roughly 20 million doses of illegally traded weight-loss medicines worth around £45 million, including a raid on a site producing fake tirzepatide pens in Northampton in October 2025. Some fake pens have been found to contain insulin, which can cause life-threatening hypoglycaemia.
Mounjaro is a Prescription-Only Medicine under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012. Selling it without a valid prescription is a criminal offence. The red flags to watch for are sellers who offer the medicine without a clinical consultation, prices far below anything a regulated pharmacy charges, and discount codes attached to weight-loss injections from unknown accounts. If you ever want to report a suspect seller, the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme accepts reports from the public. Legitimate supply starts with a prescriber, every time.
That said, a regulated private route does not mean complicated. It means a structured process, a real clinician, and a pharmacy you can verify.
Through a regulated private pharmacy like nume, the journey is straightforward. You complete a free clinical consultation online, this is a proper medical questionnaire, not a tick-box formality. A GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber reads your answers the same day. If Mounjaro is clinically suitable, a prescription is issued and your order is dispatched. If it is not, we tell you why and, where possible, point you toward what would help.
Before any prescription is issued, you verify your identity with a photo ID and confirm your current weight on a short video call. That step matters: it is part of how a responsible pharmacy catches misuse and protects patients. Transfer patients who are already on treatment elsewhere provide evidence of their current dose. Every repeat order goes through the same clinical re-review, there are no automatic renewals.
You can check whether any online pharmacy is legitimate by searching the GPhC register directly. nume's premises registration number is 9012878, verifiable at pharmacyregulation.org. If a pharmacy you are considering cannot be found there, do not use it.

The licensed criteria are set by the medicine's regulator. Adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 or above alongside at least one weight-related health condition (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, or obstructive sleep apnoea) may be considered. Lower BMI thresholds apply for South Asian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds under UK guidance. BMI alone does not guarantee approval: the prescriber reviews the full picture, including any medicines you already take and any conditions that might make tirzepatide unsuitable.
Mounjaro is not licensed for anyone under 18, and it is not recommended during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or when trying to conceive. NICE's appraisal of tirzepatide, NICE TA1026, sets out the criteria that apply to NHS prescribing. Private eligibility follows the licensed SmPC rather than NICE's phased rollout criteria, which is one reason private access is currently broader than NHS access for most people.
If you are unsure whether you qualify, the free consultation is the right starting point, there is no obligation, and our prescribers will tell you honestly what is and is not possible.
We know that for many people, the NHS feels like it should be the first stop. That makes complete sense. The honest picture is that NHS access to Mounjaro is phased and criteria-based. As of mid-2026, prescribing under the new GP contract requires a BMI of at least 35 (or 40, depending on the cohort) plus multiple weight-related conditions. Waiting times vary considerably by area, and not every GP practice is participating yet. NHS England's guidance on weight management injections explains the current rollout in full.
Private treatment through a GPhC-registered pharmacy is the alternative for people who do not yet meet NHS criteria, or who would prefer not to wait. It involves paying for the medicine and the clinical service. What it offers is speed: same-day clinical review, next-working-day delivery once approved, and 7-day aftercare from a real team. There is no referral required and no waiting list.
If you want to explore where to order tirzepatide more broadly or read a fuller overview of the medicine itself, the Mounjaro information page covers mechanism, evidence and what to expect in treatment. And if you have questions before you start, our FAQs cover the most common ones, including whether you can order more than one Mounjaro pen at a time.
