Start journey Learn moreWhether Wegovy's price will fall is a fair question, and the honest answer is: not significantly in the near term. UK private costs for semaglutide have stayed broadly stable since Wegovy's NHS rollout began, and no manufacturer announcement points to an imminent reduction. For now, private treatment remains priced in a range that reflects both the medicine's development cost and the clinical services that must legally accompany it. Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine — every legitimate supply requires a clinical assessment by a registered prescriber, and that assessment is part of what you are paying for wherever you go.

High demand usually pushes prices down eventually, but GLP-1 medicines are unusual. Novo Nordisk has faced repeated supply constraints since Wegovy launched in the UK, and the manufacturer's list price has not moved in the direction consumers might hope. The most recent comparable shift in this market went the other way: Eli Lilly raised its UK list price for Mounjaro significantly from September 2025, with the highest-dose pen moving from around £122 to around £330, as widely reported at the time.
That context matters when you are trying to decide whether to wait or start. There is no published timeline from Novo Nordisk suggesting a price reduction, and the NHS rollout (which is real but phased and restricted to people meeting strict clinical thresholds) does not create downward pressure on private pricing in the short run. If anything, NHS access being limited keeps private demand steady. You can read more about the current private market on the Wegovy price overview page, or explore how costs break down across doses on the how much does Wegovy cost page.
The likelihood of a price drop also depends on patent timelines and whether biosimilar semaglutide enters the UK market, something that remains some years away. If you are curious about whether Wegovy has gone down in price at any point, that page covers the history in detail. For now, the price you see is broadly the price that exists.
When you compare Wegovy prices across providers, the figures rarely land on an equal footing. A low advertised cost often covers the medicine alone. Consultation fees, prescription charges, delivery, and any ongoing clinical support can all sit outside that number, added at checkout or invoiced separately when you need a dose review.
This is worth pausing on. A prescription-only medicine taken for months requires more than a single sign-off. Dose titration, responding to side effects, and deciding when to adjust your treatment are all clinical decisions that should involve a prescriber. If those conversations cost extra every time, the apparent saving narrows quickly. The is Wegovy getting cheaper page looks at this in more detail, including what different pricing models tend to include.
It is also worth being clear-eyed about what some very low prices signal. The MHRA has warned publicly about fake weight-loss pens sold online, and reports of counterfeit semaglutide reaching buyers who thought they were getting a bargain are not rare. If a price looks dramatically below the market, that gap is worth questioning before you hand over your details.
A question our prescribers hear regularly is whether we ever run discount codes or promotions. We do not, and that is a deliberate position rather than an oversight. Discounting a prescription medicine feels inconsistent with what a prescription medicine is: something that carries clinical risk and legal obligations, not a commodity subject to promotional pricing. You can confirm that for yourself by checking our about us page or speaking directly with the team via our contact page.
What we do instead is include everything in one price. Your consultation is free. The prescription is free. Delivery is free, next working day by DPD, tracked to your door, in plain packaging. Aftercare is included, seven days a week, and every repeat order goes back in front of a prescriber before anything is sent. We are not the cheapest option. That is a trade-off we made on purpose, because the services wrapped around the medicine are what make it work and keep it safe. If you want to explore what treatment through nume looks like, our treatment page is the place to start.
Clinical oversight is also what protects you if Wegovy is not, in fact, the right medicine for you. Not everyone is a candidate, and the right assessment catches that early rather than after a purchase.
Thinking about whether Wegovy's price will go down is understandable, it is a significant monthly cost. But for a prescription medicine, the more useful question is whether what you are paying for is complete and safe, not whether you can find the same thing for less. A lower price that excludes clinical review, or that comes from a seller you cannot verify on the GPhC pharmacy register, does not represent a saving, it represents a different kind of risk entirely.
NICE's recommendation for semaglutide sets out the clinical framework under which it should be used: alongside a structured programme, with appropriate review, and with a clear stopping criterion if results do not meet expectations. You can read the full guidance at NICE technology appraisal TA875. That structure has a cost. The question of whether Wegovy's price will go down is really a question about how much that structure is worth to you. Our view, for what it is, is that it is worth quite a lot.
If you are weighing up whether to start now or wait for prices to shift, exploring whether Wegovy will come down in price or reading about whether prices might rise further may help you make that call with clearer information. The consultation itself is free, so there is no cost to finding out whether you are eligible.
